I'm leaving, byeeeeeeeeeeee
Well, finally got back to my side of the tracks...Good thing not many people showed up...For those of you familiar with Rip Van Winkle, I will now proceed as such, good night Johngirl. And a good time was had by all (one hopes :-)

Aye it was a wee bit quiet last night... 24 people?

Since this was my first TT Meet I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it and actually being able to put names to faces was a big plus! I must say that if I do get there early in future, I'll be more careful where I drink (and not the dodgy place around the corner!!).
Thanks for being great company!
BTW, I wasn't going to go to Lambs, then decided to but couldn't find it! On leaving the Indian the barman/owner kept asking if I wanted free drinks, anything I wanted! Someone say something to him?

Well, will try to scan in the receipt, but we managed to eat and drink 503.60 €'s worth of curry and beer ! And that did not include the free Sekt that Grinner managed to get us !

Jan 6 2005, 2:48 pm
Not to belittle the 'achievement', but wasn't it 24 people though?
Topsy
Jan 6 2005, 2:48 pm
that works out at €20 each, so not too bad, really - unless some people left really early and a hardcore of five people accounted for 80% of the bill?

edit - keydeck just beat me to it

Looks like the 3Lions/Jimbo GMs bar bill record/Longest time in GMs record still stands then - that was set almost a year ago to the day if memory serves...happy days.

If you smoke like this you have a very low chance of annoying your other diners. Also a reduced chance of lung cancer. On the downside it takes a lot of the fun out of it.

I see baltis. That should make OG happy. I guess there is no need to ask how the food was cuz I see happy faces all over.

Actually roots,, it wasnt too brill..
Alright-ish but had better..
Nut the beer was darn good..
Thought food was tasty, it just wasn't anything like the dish I ordered.
Had a great night out. Am still in shock that I met someone from my little irish home town
Had way too little sleep and got dragged skiing this morning which was shite. It rained

so we are back early

That was the latest I've ever got home from a
curry night. And I was one of the early ones at 4 a.m. Can't make a habit of it, not on Wednesdays anyway.
The company was excellent. It seems that a few people got something completely different from what they ordered. My jhalfrezi was just what I was hoping for, so personally I have no whinges. And there's certainly no complaints at the price, since that included all of Grinner's beers...

@KebabMeister Maybe he was just after your body

Heheh... now if only he was the opposite sex!

In future I think I'll be more prepared! The bar was a very tiny place and still full of xmas decorations. I ordered a drink and began drinking and then started to take in the surroundings. Hmm... there's a picture of a naked man on the wall behind the bar. Hmm... these guys are wearing very tight shirts. Hmm... these girls sitting together look rather butch. Hmm... there's a rainbow sticker on the till. Then the guy next to me started jabbering at me in German (I don't speak German!), so I just nodded my head, then he winked! OOoooops... I think I'm in a gay bar! Don't get me wrong, I haven't anything against gay people but it just came as such a big surprise! Zahlen bitte! Quick exit!

@SUB Yeah shame about the weather. I thought of you lot as I got out of bed at 2 p.m. and realised that it was probably the better decision not to have tagged along...
@KM So how many free drinks did you cash in on then?

Actually none, because I tried to catch up with the rest of you guys but I think I went a different way! Still trying to find my way about!!

Hiya
my balti wasn't a balti but I still had a good evening.
And for those at my end of the table in Lamm's, there is only one question left to answer:
Coffee bean or bacon?
Grinner
Jan 7 2005, 9:23 am
Coffee bean is my preference, but I will munch on both without any prejudice

Well I was one of the 7:30ers (big surprise). We were about to pay when the waitress told us there were 11 beers still unpaid for. We paid for 6 which were much more then we drank since we paid the first waitress for most of our beers. We refused to pay the other 5. As we were leaving the owner told us never to come back. So I guess that adds to our
curry night tradition of being kicked out of somewhere

Really we think the woman was adding several tick marks to her sheet since we noticed everyone paying as they left. Oh well not like they were friendly to start with.
As for the curry restaurant, mine wasn't very good. Ordered extra hot got mild beyond edible. Not hot is okay if it has a lots of flavor but this was bland. Added 4 tablespoons of hot sauce got it to edible but not hot. I got the same dish at Sitar once and it was really good.
Despite the food, that was one of the most fun curry nights!
@ravski: we got glasses of sekt instead.

Jan 7 2005, 10:09 am
Well I have say that I was probably the most Pistest
But Certainly paid for both Mine and Katrinas drinks on Both occasions, (when they did a shift change)
Sorry, I cant fill in your blanks..

Jeeves
Jan 7 2005, 10:13 am
I was just going to mention the shift change too. The waitresses probably just got it mixed up then. Possibly... The first waitress was quite friendly, the second was a cow.
Plus I noticed that the price of beers changed between shifts. So perhaps the second waitress was pushing it and just reckoned we were too drunk to notice and added a few beers to the bill after all.
Winegirl
Jan 7 2005, 10:15 am
Yeah I think we all paid what we ordered. The 2nd was very unfriendly. She probably figured with all the people there drinking alot she could get away with adding a bunch of beers.
Owain Glyndwr
Jan 7 2005, 10:23 am
i have heard this happens very often.
but normally the waiters/witresses are doing it without the owners/managers knowing. If the owner/manager was also under the impression that beers were not paid for then...
also: first waitress: yes friendly and efficient and used marks on the beermats to control the amount. They second should have done the same. I had a feeling something like that was going to happen cos the second waitress was telling virtually everyone (sweeping generalisation based on the fact hta i heard her doing it to two others besides myself)as they paid that they had i fact had more beers than they wanted to pay for.
Katrina
Jan 7 2005, 10:26 am
Hang on Grinner, I paid for my own drinks on the shift change! So if you've paid for them as well, that's really taking the peeee.

Roger that, I won´t ever go back there then. I don´t think it´s entirely farfetched that there were some unpaid beers, but 11 seems a bit high! Very confusing...sucks that the people at the end got stuck with the bill.
Jeeves
Jan 7 2005, 11:18 am
So Sitar next week then as per Grinner's post? Any objections?
Owain Glyndwr
Jan 7 2005, 11:29 am
not from me. I thinkit is a brilliant idea. bout time we returned to home of
curry night.
don't think we ever had a problem with the bill at Sitar either, right? At Samrat they just presented a big bill which was divided among the people, regardless of what each person had actually ordered. I prefer to do the individual Abrechnen, which they've always done at Sitar, and it never took very long either. As long as the waiters can do math (and Sitar's can!) it's no problem.

I noticed that Grinner also suggested a start time of 9. That is something I would tend not to go along with.
Kebab Meister
Jan 7 2005, 1:49 pm
I'd prefer a later time if possible, and 9pm would be ideal or 8:30pm. It's doubtful I could attend any starting at 7:30pm (due to start German lessons soon and if I'm travelling to Schwarbing area then that's going to take me about 45 mins min). Not for me to say differently btw.
I think Grinner recommended a 9pm start time so other people could attend that couldn't attend the earlier start time.
Winegirl
Jan 7 2005, 2:25 pm
No Grinner recommended it because that's when AM and French Bloke get out of their German class. It's when the curry nights always use to start. I think a start time of 8:15 or 8:30 would be good. AM and FB have the menu memorized I'm sure so they could order as soon as they got there and everything would be fine.

AM -- Chicken Vindaloo
Sebastian (french Bloke) -- Chicken Jelfarezi
If you start early, you guys could order for those two before they arrive.
Sitar is a good idea.

I won't be able to make it next week, but I just want to remind you all that
curry night on the 19th has already been scheduled for New Delhi. I'll definitely be at that one. And if it counts for anything, remember that some people (like myself) have to travel home out to the boondocks, so later times means fewer trains out to la la land. I like the 7:30pm starting time, personally, though I couldn't care less about next week.
Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed my first
curry night and of course the chance to meet some TT'ers.
Apparently getting to work the next day isn't a problem as you can go straight from the pub to work. I could have started work earlier that I normally do even. Don't suppose a Lamms type experience is the norm though.
