I won't be there. But I was there yesterday evening and Kumar kept saying to me, "23", "July 23", "23". I couldn't figure out exactly what his point was but he seems to have 23rd July etched into his memory. So I'd recommend you reserve even if it's only you and lover boy Jordigo to go. Just to save poor young Kumar from wondering whether a mob is going to flash his restaurant that evening.
Incidently, the world's best ever
Sitar waiter, Shoki, now works at Bella Italia on Rosenheimer Platz.

Hasn't July 23rd pretty much been and gone by now? Or maybe I should book a table for July 23rd next year (except that it's a Friday, so even if I'm still living in Munich I'll probably be down the pub instead)...

July 23 was the date that started it all. Remember? two weeks ago Merengue, 16 folks showed up, and we didn't get mango shots :-(
Aparently, He remembers the date that we were a pain in his arse and brought it up last night to us. Course, he still gave me a free beer, as always. Gotta love the guy.

Hmmm nope, that was the 16th (and although nobody else got free shots,
I got a free nan bread!).

I'll be there tomorrow - as if you needed confirmation.
Will probably go for drinks before, but not sure where.
Said I could go for a drink beforehand: Can't

Gotta go discuss who gets to keep the dead cat's eyeballs with my ex.
O Joy.
I moved to Munich a month ago and I am desperate to find some English-speaking company! I would love to come to
curry night. Is there room for one more?

AM: I don't know if that's when the restaurant opens, it just seems that they never answer the phone before then.
Bee: Drinks will be at the usual pre-curry-drinks venue, 8pm.

I just looked shandy up -- it's a Radler! And "Tristram Shandy" was written more than a hundred years before shandy as Radler made it into the dictionary... shandygaff too. What a word.

okok I'll come to the usual curry *yawn*.
Had an Asda chicken Jalfrezi in the UK at the weekend and it tasted JUST like the real thing. Cost about € 3.30 !!! Bleedin eck! I'm going to bring a truckload back with me in a month's time... the tikka masala was good too!
Managed to sneak 3 of them back with me in a coolbag. They tested the damn things for explosives at Heathrow!!! The explosives girl (nice, indian) was very apologetic and hoped I enjoyed them when I got to my destination... I didn't ask for any cooking tips

Heh! Something similar happened to me, NoGo. Cardiff? Not sure if I posted this before, but...
Security: "Is that your case?"
Noddy: "I think so. Its a bit far away, I can't really see."
S: (fetches case)
N: "Yes, that's mine."
S: "Did you pack it yourself?"
N: "Yesss..."
S: "Did anyone ask you to carry anything for them?"
N: "Noooo..."
S: "So everything in this case is yours?"
N: "Yesss..."
S: "Something is showing up as explosives on our scanner."
N: "Say wha'?!"
S: "Open your case please, sir."
N: "Yeah. Okay." (opens case)
S: (rummages through contents) "Do you often carry a loaf of Tesco sliced bread and half a ton of choccies with you when going abroad, sir?"
N(grinning): "I can eat some of it now if you want."
Apparently it just shows up as "organic material".

I'm not going to the curry evening this week I'm afraid - my company is having a "don't let the door hit you on the way out" party, and I don't want to miss the opportunity to accidently pour a maß over the heads of some of the managers...

I just wanted to say thanks for introducing me to the Sitar! I went there last Wednesday with my hubby and I was thrilled! I have been here a few months but no one has been able to introduce me to a decent Indian or Chinese restaurant. Any tips on a decent Chinese restaurant...?
Noddy
Aug 18 2003, 2:26 pm
There's a nice Chinese in Sendling, but I can't remember the name. They've got a pond in the place with fish in it. Not sure if you can select your main course from there though...

Hallo Noddy,
I'm still here ... I've not gone far... just moved house (across town to
Kolumbusplatz) and had a slight tussle with Telekom trying to keep my old phone number, Internet access etc... Amazingly enough I came out on the winning side. That has to be a first!
Then I've had the annual parental visitation these last two weeks so the closest I got to a computer was stowing my laptop in the bottom of the wardrobe once we'd finished putting the all the furniture back together!
The flat still looks a little as if a bomb has hit it... but I might just be able to make the infamous
curry night this week!

Just found this thread. Never knew there's be so many others who share my excellent taste in cuisine.
Is the curry trip on this week, or wot?
And can you get Chicken Tikka Masala? Or is it like one of those places where you need to drink three pints just to be able to pronounce anything on the menu?
I'm grateful for any info.
AquaticMeringue
Aug 26 2003, 8:31 am
Yes, yes, the curry is on, at 9pm as usual. They have a "tandoori chicken masala" which is basically the same as a chicken tikka masala, but they've also told us that they can cook stuff that isn't on the menu - all we have to do is ask.

Is it 9pm every week? Because I've just realised I'm booked this Wednesday
What about these bevvies beforehand? That still on every Wednesday too?
Just to clarify, I won't be coming this week but next week (3rd Sept) if that's OK. For the drinks too. I just need to know where and when. Can I bring the missus? She's German but speaks fluent English.
Nice one

I think I'll be up for a couple of Apfel Schorles before the curry tomorrow, so if anyone else's up for it, let me know. I'm not going to be a Billy-No-Mates and sit there on my own for an hour...
Karambos, the pre-curry drinks aren't as regular as the curry itself, but they're usually at the Gewürzmühle, which is just round the corner, at 8pm-ish. Check the maps earlier in this thread to see exactly where it is.
No problems bringing the Mrs. along.
