I should be there again. After all the tomatoes in my jalfrezi the other night though, i'll need to find a new dish.

I'm not much of a fan of tomatoes either (in fact I can't stand them), but as far as I recall the jalfrezi never used to have very many - you may just have been unlucky last time, or perhaps they had a different chef. Still, there are plenty of other good dishes; may I recommend the vindaloo? ;)
So lets all order Jalfrezi and I'll eat the tomatoes!
Me? I luuuuurrrve tomatoes. Squishysquashy.
I heard from very good sources - Hoddy and Her Famous Eating Monster - that the burnin'bum Chilli Chicken is a scorcher in the "tastes good" sort of sense. So go with that folks. Fewer tomatoes...
Can't come

Doing a face-saving "I'd better work my arse off now or I'm for it" type of evening at the orifice.

Ahhh, thanks for that NoGo. I now have a suitable nickname for +1. Has a better ring to it than "you incredible hog" don't it?
And Aquatic, you try getting near my Famous Eating Monster's plate and he will bite!

Hi AquaticMeringue,
I'm one of the new people who might come tonight. Where is this
Sitar place? I might come.
Greg.

A great turnout - 9 people! I hope to see some of you next Wednesday as well (plus there should also be at least a couple of new faces).

Anyone up for a couple of beers in Gewürzmühle before the curry tonight?
koala
Jul 16 2003, 8:57 am
Count me in for the curry as well - if there's still space for a little one? Not too sure about Gewürzmühle, Malc. If I'm early, I'll drop in and see if you're still there, otherwise see you all at
Sitar.

I wouldn't worry about space: At 35 degrees I don't think there'll be many takers (other than us crazy catz) for curry tonight.
I think a place on the curbside is a must. Sorry AM

That will probably require us having the entire curbside to ourselves...

doesn´t heat add to the authentic indian experience? (for reference see

I am a net buyer of curry today. remind me of time & place?

Jordigo, it's at the
Sitar in
Lehel at 9pm - just read back over the thread to get directions.
Considering the number of us who are apparently going, I'm honestly not sure if we'll all be able to sit outside - I suppose we'll just have to see. But sunset is at 9:08pm, which should drop the temperature to around 15°C. The weather forecast also predicts a thunderstorm...

I'll come along for a change, seeing as I'm on my own this week, was anyone else thinking of going to the Gewürz-whatsit for a cooling Helles for starters?

Jul 16 2003, 2:17 pm
Maybe we should just reserve the entire restaurant...

I still think you should get a commission Aquatic with as much business as you've brought them in the last 6 months!
Maybe you should book something just to be on the safe side though. It is looking like a regular mob tonight.
Can't make it for drinks beforehand but I'll be there around 9ish.

Looks like no-one else is up for a beer beforehand, so I guess I'll just turn up at the restaurant at 9 aswell.

The staff weren't looking so pleased with us tonight were they Aquatic? We didn't even get any free mango shots!
Could have been the inconvenience of having to run off that couple from their table and offer them complementary beverages to compensate them or it might have been the fact that SIXTEEN people showed up without a reservation. Be a nice boy and give them advanced warning next time.

I hadn't actually thought about that - but I got a free nan bread, so I wasn't complaining ;)

Well as I never really know how many people are turning up, the most I could of done would have been to give a rough estimate. We didn't force them to stick us on the same table, either, and I really can't see them being upset at having 16 extra customers. Our food turned up pretty quickly as well, considering how many they had to cook for.

Well I recognise the usual suspects amongst those fotos, even blurred as they are (too much to drink Editor Bob? even the women look like they have facial fuzz). Can anyone put names/TT Monikers to the other faces? Do I detect another Sony face there, alongside The Meringue?

Hi Aquatic,
My apologies for not turning up last week I had to work late. I will DEFINITELY be there this week. It's quite hard to find a decent curry house in Munich.

Jul 23 2003, 4:27 pm
I'll be at Gewürzmühle at around 8. I'm going to call up
Sitar and book for around 12 people, which should be enough unless there are a load of lurkers who didn't bother to reply but will come anyway.

Good turn-out last night. Everyone who said they were coming actually came! As usual the curry was excellent, if a little spicier than usual.
Typically, after reserving a table in advance, we got there and found that the place was deserted. Guaranteed it would have been packed out if we hadn't reserved...
SWMBO brought Noddy along for a swift drink at Gewürzmühle, but I suspect it was only to prove that he hadn't done her in and buried her under his patio, Beth Jordach style.

This is true, and we popped into the curry house to say "hi" as well. Gewürzmühle does a mean burger, I must say (by "mean" I do not mean that they skimp on anything). My mouth is watering again just thinking about it. There goes my "no beef" rule

Enya, Gewürzmühle is on Gewürzmühlstr which is on the opposite side of the
U-Bahn line from the Restaurant. You'll see it on the map that Editor Bob posted earlier in this thread.
Noddy, your comments about the burgers at Gewürzmühle reminded me of your idea to try to convince Germans that "burger" is pronounced "bugger". I'll give 20 Euros to the first person who can convince a German to refer to a burger without sauces/mayo as a "dry bugger".

How about a "dry bugger between two buns"?

Enough of this filth, you should have your mouths washed out with soap!
Anyway, it reminded me of a mistake I often made whilst learning how to feed my face in German. I would always say " for Vorspiel, I'll have smoked salmon (or whatever, ok then soup)". I drew a few odd looks while Opa tried to cover up my blunder. Another common mistake is looking for a helecopter to take out a screw. Share your mistakes and give us a laugh.
To all the new TT's welcome.

I started with my German a few years ago...couldn't make a difference between Flugzeug (a plane) and Feuerzeug (a lighter)...And I'd say in German "ich kann mich nicht geniessen", meaning I can't enjoy myself...everybody laughed their heads off...Fries and mayo, ha, ha...Pulp Fiction

Looks like the
Sitar is going to be swamped by Toytowners again.
Is it really such a good idea to have so many people turning up?
If I was running this event I'd have to insist on not having so many new members coming along at the same time. Specially if they're going to bring their weird friends with them.

Jul 28 2003, 3:32 pm
ok, then...if you "old" Toytowners are not about meeting new people and want to stay in your group, count me please out...and u1 too...
Cheers
