Lunchtime burger and beer in the city

down in munich and I tried to go for a burger or bacon and eggs at Kilians and found it closed where can I get such a thing at this time of the day in munich. preferably with the ability to chase it with a guinness. I am in panic mode right now.

Macdonalds for the food, Karstadt for the beer!

um yeah I could do that in Freising too. I was just hoping while visiting the big lights I might just be able to enjoy what Freising doesnt have. which are Irish bars. Does anyone know of an Irish or merely international bar with guinness thats open right now?

Kilians doesn't open until 3.30 during the week, you could go just go to Donisl there on Marienplatz for a thrifty Schweinshaxe washed down with some Dunkles. Good value for money and if you're lucky it can be quite tasty, plus menus in English. The Irish pubs generally don't open until later, 5 pm or thereabouts. If you're really desperate, there's the Hard Rock Cafe opposite Hofbräuhaus.

Kilians should have opened at 11am...

I know a bar with Guiness, but its a little bit rough round the edges. Hopfen Dolde, Feilitzschstrasse, Schwabing. Go to Munchener Freiheit, go east towards the Englsih garden, and its a few hundred metres down, on the left hand side.

Only on Fridays and weekends and for lunch during the week when the terrace is open in summer.

Hopfen Dolde it will seem to be then. I am already at muencher freiheit so that wont be too far away. what makes it paticularly rough around the edges?

Ahhh sorry mate, 11am is when the terrace is open...

What makes it a bit rough? Well, its just got that sort of "this place has not be refurbished or cleaned for 5000 years" feel to it. Also attracts a large number of scruffier looking people. I like it.

Sounds like I shall fit right in then. I am looking rather scruffy myself today.

I am also on a diet so I need to drink low calorie beer! This lent beer would ruin my diet in mere hours. Besides I have to prepare myself for the zythos fest in belgium this weekend.
