Hi TT-runners,

today is the last day with reduced sign-up fees for the Münchner Stadlauf on 24th June 2007. See the Sportscheck website for details and signup page. Today it's still for €15. March/April will cost €20 and May/June costs €25. Members of DAK, BMW-card holders and Sport-Scheck-Club members get €3 discount.

Note that the start is at 8am - yuck!

Who else plans to run this year? Just wondering whether I should sign up as Toytown-member like for the Ismaning runs.

See also chat topics about the Stadtlauf in previous years.

I'm planning on doing the 21k, but June is a long way away...
DickyD
I'm planning on doing both !!! 21km early then the 10km with friends as a warm down ... :-)

I've signed up for the 10km. The last time I did something like this I didnt train beforehand, something I intend to rectify this time round.
Jimbo
Last time you did this it was to try and pull though, wasn't it?
3 Lions
I did pull!!! All be it my muscle!

My husband and/or I might do the 21K. But as mentioned before, June is a long way off. And I've had a bum knee, so had to miss the Ismaning runs. So we'll see... repost later though! smile.gif
Stephan
I might run the half marathon as well. I will run the 20k of Brussels end of May so I'll have enough training before hand. smile.gif

Just a final bump for this thread I guess. The Stadtlauf is this weekend, anyone wanting to take part can still sign up here.

Anyone else running this that I know?
DSoul
I just signed up for the 10-K. Hope to randomly see some TT'ers out there, although might be tough as I expect to be blinded by the garish orange shirts they force everyone to wear (kind of unusual to have to wear a particular shirt, no?). Good luck to everyone who's running.

good luck to all runners! ... Right now I am kind of glad I am not running, it begins way too early.

So what did you guys think of this race?

I did the half marathon--was the first time I have ever done one of these Sport Scheck thingies. I have to say I was a little irritated at first by the start blocks. Seemed like there was a lot less space for the amount of people who showed up--maybe they just didn't count on so many being there? Some dude behind me wanted to keep pushing his big man boobs into my back while waiting to start. Couldn't there have been at least a few centimeters behind me? Maybe not.

In spite of being so grumpy in the beginning, I decided just to relax and enjoy the English Garden. I wasn't able to find a natural pace for a few miles since it was impossible to pass a lot of times. Still, it was nice to spend some time running along with thousands of fellow runners on a beautiful Sunday. I came in under two hours but don't know officially yet.

Hope everyone else who did it or watched had a good time. It will be a while before I can ever wear that orange shirt again. Just can't look at it again for a while!!

You're not the only one who thinks it's too crowded at the start...My colleagues and I have been talking about this for years.

If you want to run a decent time and not be squeezed like a sardine, you have to position yourself near the very beginning at the start (i.e. first 20m) . It's pretty obvious, with this amount of people. And its growing each year. Last year only 2665 people finished the 21k, while this year it's 5014. Roughly a double jump in participation. Soon they might have to rethink the current route.

This year I had no problems and could run my own pace without having to pass people on the side through the grass every 5m. The one problem I had this year was that the kilometer markers were not really placed that accurate. I can't really complain since Qimonda made the signs!

The weather wasn't too hot for the 21k, but it would have been pretty damn hot to run the 10k at 11am. Good time btw 3-Lions. smile.gif

Hey I was in the first 50m and there was no crowd at the front .. really lots of room .. you could even stretch there was that much space .. and they had left a barrier open on the Marrienplatz side for late runeers to sneak in [ top tip for next year :-) ]

During the race at the front it was OK (I was 7th in 77 mins) there was the winner then a group of 4 then anthoer group of 3 so we weren't alone ... good support all along the route ven in the depths of the Garten ... saw the masses coming towards us along the Isar and it did look like a scrum even after 6km !!! people all over the grass etc ... and yes the markers seemed well out ... according to the markers I went through 5km in 16:25 and ther's no way that's true ... !!!
But yes good day out and nice warmer for October's marathon with the new reversed route this year ...
Next one Erding September 23rd anyone else going there ? Free beer not to be snifted at ...

I had a good run too, not like our 7th placed friend, but good for me and that's what counts. I chose not to read the part about the shirt being mandatory so I ran in a tank top that I like to run in. smile.gif It was really busy at the back but I wouldn't have wanted to hold anyone up. I thought the whole morning was fantastic, nice weather, enough shade, decent crowds and a great feeling!

I reckon it was a good warm up for my first marathon in Amsterdam in October.

This cost money to "enter" right?

Coming soon, the Riina Stadtlauf. Give me 10 quid, and then go for a run. 1 km, 10, 21, whatever you fancy.
The mind boggles, seriously. 28 degree sunshine, and people go for a run?!?! You people need to get a life, and stay in more.
DickyD
For most of us our companies pay for us to enter ... that's certainly true of Freesacle, Qimonda, Infineon, BMW, HP, O2 ...
and for me it was a nice break from moving house ... I've had enough of moving boxes while staying thanks very much ...
I was home at 09:45 ... by then it certainly wasn't 28 degrees but just warm enough to start my first cold beer before unpacking more boxes, ...
