I'll see if I can get around to popping down there and getting some better details about the place, like phone numbers, opening times and shit. For those of you like me who have little interest in actually participating, but want to point and laugh at the inevitable outcome of Jimbo being taken off to casualty, there is also a bar there.

For those of you that don't know, Garching (Hochbruck) is at the end of the U6, one stop past Frottmanning where the Germans are building that lovely big stadium where England will lift the 2006 World Cup.
I would love it, just love it if we would do this...however I would prefer us to lift the world cup at the stadium in Berlin, where the final is being played

I resemble that remark Don - and if 3Lions is driving I'm not so sure now - they steal cars on a daily basis up round his neck of the woods. Mind you, most Northerners can't afford anything more than a go-kart anyway...

From looking at the price list and my very limited understanding of German!! We could do a block booking for a day. 383€ for Saturdays. If you get about 20 or so people it wouldnt be too expensive.
The only hassle/Headache comes to the organiser whoever want to take this on.
Volunteers anyone
Love too mate, but I don't speak any german as yet and I'd probably get well and truly ripped off...
lovely jubbly...as long as the price is right...

When someone can be bothered to take on the responsibility of booking and then getting money from people afterwards.
Seriously though, I would be up for this.

I promised work I would organise something a while back.. but never got round to it.
I could have another go at getting round to it though...
If no-one else wants to do it, then I can certainly consider organising it...
I really need to get back out on the track

If I can be in town I'm in. I've done the track at Kart Palast and had a blast. Oh and if you win you can pop around the corner and ...never mind.
Seriously though, I live just by this place and it's a lot of fun. If it's on and I'm in town then I'm all for it.

well Keydeck, tell us the next dates you're around and we'll try to fit you in ;O)
sounds cool, always loved karting back home.
oke, did some googling and
this go-kart track came up. Prices look fine at €15.50 for 15 minutes and the 600meter track has a decent length. It's located near donnebergerbrucke.

Dont they do grand prix days?
If we had a big enough group, we should be able to do a block booking, these are a lot more fun. They usually consist of -
Qualifying races and at the end the top 6/8 drivers go in to a final GP and the top 3 from that do the podium thing.
They do have qualifying if you want, takes about 30 minutes for both qualification, which determines where you start for the race, and a final race. Price is €33 p.p. A group booking including a podium costs €515 total, for up to 15 people.
Are they open sundays? I had a go last year and really enjoyed it and would like to go again. May i tentativley suggest the weekend of September the 4th/5th? Or are people wanting to get into it sooner than that. (I seem to be fairly booked until then)
JoolyBooly
Aug 4 2004, 3:06 pm
NO! No activites between 2nd and 18th September allowed!

Sulky spoilt brat (will be in Cuba)
starting September 3rd I'm gone for two weeks (

) so no planning allowed.
How about Sunday the 29th of August?

Thats pretty good, when I did it in the UK it cost us 40quid p.p. (60€), plus we will have more than 15. Not to mention there is competetion brewing between Jimbo 'Button' - Tom 'Schumacher' & and dont forget 3 'Mansell'...nah that last one dont work
Plus I remember at the time there being about 40ppl there and it was well organised.

Is it possible we can have one event that doesnt in anyway mention the frickin rugby!
Note to Ed Bob - Change name of Toytown to 'TouchRugbyTown'
29th is good for me btw
Ok, let then try to get this organized
when: Sunday the 29th of August, time to be determined
where: Kart Palast near U4/U5 Westendstr.I guess the best thing would be to try to get 15 people together for a groop booking. So post or PM me if u're interrested, first com first serve!
For those of you who can't read German or are too lazy to check the website

, this is the intended program: First a 8 lap Qualifying race to determine the start grid for the race and than a 22 lap race. After that there's a cermonial honnering of the numbers 1, 2 and 3 with Sekt. Total program lasts about 40 minutes.
3 Lions
Aug 4 2004, 4:59 pm
Surely they do bigger groups than 15?
I'm in though!!
@3lions - Group bookings are only for up to 15 people or a multiple of that. We could book on a per person basis but then there won't be a TT competition, and you have to share the track with other people.
3 Lions
Aug 4 2004, 5:16 pm
@VDB
That sounds pretty good and also pretty tiring!!
Sharing isnt necessarily a bad thing, back when I did it, we were a group of 20, they just mixed us up with another group of 20, always ends up being a great day.
true enough, I would say we go for a booking on a per person basis if the number of people interrested isn't close to 15. The available program looks a little different for such a booking:
First a 7 lap qualifying race to determine the start grid for the race and than a 18 lap race. No cermonial honnering and the total program lasts about 30 minutes. Here also the maximum number of people on the track is limited to 15 and it costs €30 per person or €385 per 15 people, wich makes €25,67 per person.
