Lemar, a well-known Afghan restaurant in Munich, opened a second venue at the end of 2006. The new place is on the corner of Belgradstraße and Viktor-Scheffel-Straße in Schwabing.

This address has seen a high turn-over of restaurants in the last couple of years. Previous occupants, in chronological order, have been Asado Steak, Prince of India, Lahore, and Little Tortilla. The last two lasted less than six months each. Both suffered from lack of custom.

The new Lemar doesn't appear to be having the same problem, however. It's usually busy whenever I walk by. And justifiably so. The restaurant is nicely kitted out in Afghan style, lots of colourful silk cushions everywhere and a much more open floor plan than previous occupants.

Definitely recommended.

Note that the photo shown here is of the original Lemar. We don't have a photo of the new premises yet. Also of possible interest, the new Lemar is just two doors along from Blue Nile II.

And we are planning to go there on the 23rd March! smile.gif
