Hi, as a new member to this forum I just want to say that this is a great site. Keep up the good work! Now, to business. I am a British citizen, although not currently living in the UK. I would like to come and live and work in Munich for a while (possibly 5-6 years). Here are the questions:
1) where's the best place to start looking for full-time work (other than here of course!)? I speak reasonably fluent German.
2) where does one start looking for accommodation, and what are the main pitfalls?
3) what bureaucratic things does one need to be aware of? I know that I need a residence permit, but are there any issues with this?
Any advice, suggestions, pointers would be gratefully appreciated,
rubi
BTW: I will be in Munich between 11-28 March. If anyone is interested in getting together over a cup of coffee and sharing their experiences with me, I would be more than happy to do so.

To answer we would need to know what you do.
For where to live, once again we need to know what you like ?
Registration is easy and no probs for a UK citizen.
Search function will yield lots of topics from similar enquiries.

if you go to the TT front page (aka HOME) and click on
About Toytown Germany, you can read to get a little bit of info first, then you would see under "How To Use the Site", the link
for getting started. Start there & look for some info, otherwise post away if you don't get any answers you like.
Toytown has grown so much, I still spend a lot of time searching to find what I want. Sometimes you have to alter your search query and be very clever!

thanks for the feedback so far, much appreciated.
to answer your questions bluedave:
1) I am currently working as editor of an academic newsletter. I am also involved in various academic research projects, and work as a freelance editor of academic journals, working papers etc.
2) what do I like? Preferably, a 1 room appt. with balcony, but I'm flexible. As to where in Munich; no particular wishes except that I'd like to be on the U-Bahn rather than S-Bahn lines.
