Just moved in and wondering if there are some people around with a sympathetic ear about the trials and tribulations of getting a bloody visa for this country! Amongst other things.
Is there a regular crowd still at this Jim's Bar place? Is anyone going to come and rescue me?
Cheers!

Hi everyone in Dresden,
I'm new to this English-speaking crowd. Moving to Dresden about 8 month ago I have been looking for an interesting young and international group of people and it seems I'm finally lucky. As I understand you normally meet Wednesdays in different Neustadt pubs. Have you chosen the one for Wednesday 28th yet and is there anything planned for the weekend that I could join. I am looking forward to meet you all soon and have a lovely day

Hello Germany,
recently moved to Germany (Nov 2007) and am still trying to find my feet. Would like to hear from anyone who meets up in Leipzig or Dresden as I live between these two cities.
Married (wife is German) with two kids. Interested in sport, reading, music, eating and drinking. 35 years old and in need of getting back into the social side of life.
(it is me or are all of the radio stations stuck in the 1980s?)
All the best,
Ben.

Hello all!
So I thought I would introduce myself to the board and to Dresden. Yes I did search other threads but I thought why not have a thread just to say hello for everyone (that is still open) and introduce myself.
So anyways I got in last Saturday from Berlin and been here in Germany for about 6 months. Hope to chat with a few English speakers here in Dresden.
Myself I am a producer and run my own record label (Detroit-techno) and also have about 15 years IT consulting experience in Network Engineering.
Best Regards,
Shamus

Hi cotd,
Welcome to Dresden.
Without knowing what area you work in I can only suggest the Monster and job pilot websites and look for posting in Dresden.
There is a thread in this section regarding a meet up, shclub...

Hey everybody
I moved to Dresden from England about three weeks ago and am now trying to find a job where a knowledge of basic German is OK.
My work experience includes 7 years as a Progress Analyst Programmer but I'm open to most jobs that will stop my bank account haemorrhaging at its current rate!
I'll try and drop into the meet this Wednesday (11th) so I can get to know a few other native speakers.
Ciao for now

Hi,
My name is Wheeler and I'm an Au Pair in Dresden. I arrived here late Tuesday night, the 6th. I'm taking care of an 11 year old boy. My host family is a pair of TV journalists.
I was a student at the University of Nevada, Reno but got burned out. So, I decided to give being an au pair a try, and sure enough a family invited me.
I'll try my damndest to get to the next English club meeting.
Talk to you soon,
Wheeler.

Hi chaps
I'm Ollie from England. Currently living in England with the German bird, but we're planning on moving to Dresden where she originates from as soon as the job market picks up again (and my Deutsch improves)!
We've just come back from Germany; I went to La Pampa festival which was great! We regularly return to visit the bird's family and friends. This was much easier and cheaper when BA ran flights from Gatwick to Dresden, but now we have to use Easyjet from Gatwick to Berlin Schonefeld which is more expensive, and no sandwich included! I've heard BA might be reinstating their flights though, so fingers crossed (or thumbs pressed)...
We'll be over there again at the end of August for Badfest in the village of Langebruck, to the east of Dresden airport: www.langebrueck.de/badfest/2009/
I'd love to meet up with some English speakers in Dresden to see how they find living there, talk about getting jobs, things to do, what life is like in general. Would anyone be available to meet up at the end of August in the Dresden area? My exact dates are Thurs 27 Aug to Tues 1 Sept 2009.
Cheers, see you soon!
Ollie

Hi chaps, Ollie again. I'm posting again as I'm due in Dresden next week, arriving late at night on Weds 26 Aug, so is anyone around on Thurs 27? Seeing as it's donerstag, anyone fancy meeting up for a doner? I love German kebabs! Ohne fleisch though, I'm veggie. Or maybe meet up at the Badfest in Langebruck, which is the reason I'm coming over. I'd love to meet up with some English-speaking ex-pats to see what it's like aclimatising to Germany before I actually make the leap. I'm very friendly and easy to talk to! Plus I'll be with my German bird, so I'm not a threat to anyone!

Hello,
I am fairly new to Dresden. I have been here for 5 months, and will be starting the German classes in a couple of weeks. I have been wanting to connect with English, or Spanish speakers here in Dresden. I moved here from Austin TX, as my Husband is from Dresden. The transition has not been easy for me!! I left my friends, family, and well basically my Texas life. I love this place...it is incredible, but I have not been so lucky to meet people who speak my lingo. I love the arts, photography, video editing, music, cooking, jewelry design, travel and most of all creative People. If anyone is interested in hanging out, and has a good suggestion on where to go for live music, then I would love to hear from you!! Thanks in advance~ Malina
