Nordbad fitness centre

Opened February 2007, pretty stylish

The SWM swimming pool at Nordbad has undergone quite a massive transformation to become one of the city's finest fitness locations.
And it opened on February 15th.
With pretty swish equipment to boot.

Training and rehabilitation equipment, cardio centre with TV screens, the 1700sqm pool area with aqua aerobic and aqua spinning, 730sqm of sauna (Finnish, sanarium, crystal sauna...) and steam rooms including the ladies' night, group training in two large classrooms with a wide range of courses. And the Café am Nordbad is still there as are the masseurs (and they are excellent).

The instructors and supervisors are sports scientists (with degree), state qualified sports teachers and physios etc. so unlike many fitness centres, the staffing appears to actually be qualified.

While yearly and two-yearly contracts are available, I believe that you can pay-as-you-go but check with Nordbad directly for information.

On a side note, Dantebad for example does have training rooms included in the price of entry as do certain other pools, check SWM site for details or indeed look at Olympiapark for comparison.

TT Nordbad threads including my favourite ever subtitle for a thread that didn't get deleted.

Yes, the CaN is next door, but the picture has already been used in the CaN review so TT copyright

Has the sauna area been redone? I went there once but it was pretty crap to be honest, especially in comparison to Therma Erding.
Katrina
Not sure, I've never minded the saunas myself. Therme Erding is a real trek for me and it is quite expensive for what it is, I mean, Schwaben Quellen is the same price as TE but tons nicer.
A few plants on the Dachterrasse would be good at Nordbad though?

does the Nordbad have a good area for children i.e. small kids 2-5? Westbad is great for kids but Nordbad would be more convenient for us.
Katrina
They have a children's pool area, with both a small paddling (Planschbecken) and a deeper standing (Nichtschwimmerbecken) one, both indoors and supervised. Think they have a slide and some water jets too. Some toys are there as well, here's the link. Family tickets cost 14€.

How has the actual swimming pool been transformed and has any swish equipment been added to the swimming pool itself?
Katrina
Well it has now got a big fitness area attached, which wasn't there before? That would be a transformation now, wouldn't it?
They've probably spruced the pool area up a bit, but why don't you go yourself and tell us all about it? Or click on the links given above?

I was in the pool the other day, and no, actually, they haven't done anything to the pool area. That said, I think it's a nice pool area at the Nordbad; the outdoor pool with all the massage bitties is lovely too. From the main pool area though, you may be left totally ignorant as to the existence of the fitness area. I think the entrance was on the ground floor entrance way, which you just pass through to get to the pools.

Just an FYI to anyone wanting to join the fitness centre here, they have a limit of 1000 members, which they are currently at. So you will have to sign a minimum 3 month waiting list if you still want to join.

Does the entrance charge for the outdoor pool include the usage of fitness centre too? (like in Dantebad)

I would also like to know the answer to this question ... does anybody know?
Mariposa
Doesn't look like it. Sounds like that gym works like a regular gym where you get a membership for 12 or 24 months (that also allows you to use the swimming pool).

No. But membership in the gym includes entrance to the pool.
