no books on that (you dont need 'em) but happy to chat with you on that subject . (My daughter now 4...) :-)
marymanu
Speaking of requests, I would really love to read The Life of Pi. If anyone has it and would be willing to lend it to me, I promise I would give it back!
Piggystardust
I've got Life Of Pi.. really enjoyed it, will bring it along smile.gif

Looking forward to some advice on potty training, things are not going well. Just as well my son's name is Noah, he might be required to build us an Ark soon the way things are going!
ChiTown
Where is Cafe May?
Hamburg Koala
Cafe May is in Eimsbüttel on Lappenbergsallee, right near to the "Apostle Kirche". There's a busstop right there called just that ("Apostle Kirche") on the Metrobus line 4 which goes between Schlump and Eidelstedt for eg. That's one bus stop away from U-Bahn Osterstr. Of course, you can easily walk that distance but should best ask for directions to the "apostle Kirche" (which everyone in that area knows), after exiting the station.
marymanu
@Piggystardust - Thank you!

Everyone, my husband is bringing a friend who is really into Science Fiction. If you've got any you'd like to share, please bring it along. Thanks!
Hammonia
Mat will also be there.
See you in a bit.
Piggystardust
Hey guys,

Just wanted to say I had a great time this afternoon, was great to meet such a nice group of people. I look forward to the next meeting... do you do it every month or is it more random? Looking foward to getting though some of my new books smile.gif

Bren
Piggystardust
Btw... I forgot to mention it, but whomever has the Fastfood Nation Book.. I'll be needing it back as it's my partner's wink.gif I think I have track of who has the other books... I have a lot more Ian Rankin if you like the ones you've sampled (they're also his). Most of my books are child/psychology related.. so I didn't think anyone else would be intereted in them smile.gif
marymanu
Bren,
It was nice meeting you too! We usually have a swap every month or so, whenever we feel like meeting up. I have the Fast Food Nation book and I will be sure to bring it next time along with Life of Pi.
Laurel
Steph0313
The last book swap was in October and I am ready to refresh my collection, is anyone else interested in meeting up for another book swap?
marymanu
I am booked every Saturday until Feb. Would the first Saturday of February work for everyone?
Steph0313
That would work perfect for me. smile.gif
silty1
sad.gif Nope.
Hammonia
What about a Sunday?

I'd be in, except on 13th Jan.

Is Café May completely smoke-free now?
marymanu
I don't know about Cafe May, but we don't necessarily have to meet there. If there is someplace comparable and more convenient for everyone, I wouldn't mind checking out a new place. Sundays in Feb would work for me as well.
Hamburg Koala
first sat in Feb I'm in Stuttgart, sundays I have my daughter.
I 'spose I could bring her along, because looking at my diary I can't really see any alternatives at the moment anyway...
Piggystardust
I'd be interested, Sunday's are always good days to do stuff as there's not much else to do smile.gif

Whoever brought the FAT book, do you need it back? I have some books for you Hamburg Koala that you said you'd like back, I'll bring them with smile.gif

Bren
Steph0313
Hi Bren,

The "Fat" book was mine, but I don't need it back, so it can be recycled.

So is the general consensus that Sunday is the best day?
marymanu
Sunday would work for me, and Kathryn please bring your daughter. I'd love to meet her.
Hammonia
So what about Sunday January 20th at Café May?

I'd love to meet your daughter, too, Koala.

And since there do not seem too many new people and Café May worked well for everybody before, shall we stay there?

Bren, please let me know which books you need back, I sent you a mail sometime in December but haven't heard back from you, don't know which books it were that you brought... smile.gif
Piggystardust
Hi Karin,

Have just sent a mail to you. The only books I'd like back are the Fast Food Nation and Life of Pi ones... Rich said he's not bothered about the others smile.gif

Bren
Hammonia
Fine, I think we don't have any of those, and since Mat hasn't yet read any of the ones I brought him, he can take his time and we'll bring them back for a later swap for someone else to take them smile.gif
Hammonia
So, what about Sunday, Mädels? wink.gif

edit: and Jungs of course. rolleyes.gif
marymanu
I won't be able to come on the 20th but I bet Matt will go and he can bring me home some books. Otherwise I could make it the following Sunday.
Hammonia
Can't make Sun 27th.

Maybe we wait til February?
Piggystardust
I'm happy to wait till Feb, have something else on on 20th and was only going to be popping by for a while anyway smile.gif

Bren
Hammonia
OK, suggestions for a date in February?

Are we still talking about Sundays then?

Think we have no plans yet for Feb., except the weekend 9./10. we're in England.
Steph0313
I will be gone for most of February and early March...so I am probably out. sad.gif
Hammonia
Shall we still say Sunday 20th January then, and another one end March?
Or what about March 3rd? That still OK?

Anybody else than Steph in for 20th? Wouldn't make much sense with just the two of us...
Hamburg Koala
sorry, I haven't been keeping up as usual :-(
I'd be on for the 20th and Amy is always keen for a chance at cake :-)
It sounds like it would be a long time otherwise...
I'm for Hammonia's suggestion just to do it, maybe Matt (MMs) will come along even in her abscence and Bren will still "pop in", then we'd be sort of 5... ?
And to already plan a next one is a good idea. The beginning of April would work better than the end of March for me.
Hammonia
Attagirl!

OK, so Sunday it is. Will make a reservation. What time? 2:00 p.m. OK for everyone?

Looking forward smile.gif
Steph0313
Yup, count me in.
silty1
I'll be at a concert - but at least this time not at the office. Maybe next time...
marymanu
Hey guys,
I have rehearsal on Sunday but probably not until the evening, so I am thinking I might be able to pop by for a bit. Yay! See you all on Sunday at 2 pm.
Hammonia
Would be nice to see you smile.gif, sorry you missed the games night yesterday, it was good fun with a few very nice new faces.

edit: made a reservation for the usual table.
marymanu
Looking forward to it. By the way, if anyone reading this has a copy of the book "Perfume" I would love to borrow it.
Piggystardust
Hi guys,

I'll have my children in tow today too if that's ok... but the good news is Rich will be with them to keep them out of our hair. I just didn't want him dropping me off, and then having to drive around waiting for me... Cafe May seems very child friendly, and Amie will be happy to keep Koala's daughter company I'm sure!

See you later
Bren
marymanu
@Bren, that's fine! Cafe May is always full of people with their children.

To everyone: has anyone made a reservation? I'll check back in an hour or two and if nobody has, I will. Can I get a count of who is coming?

Me and Cookieaddict
Piggystardust and family
Hamburg Koala and Amy
Steph0313
Hammonia

Looks like 8 people. Looking forward to seeing you all.
Laurel
Steph0313
I don't know when we plan to have our next book swap...but I was wondering if anyone out there has 'To Kill A Mockingbird' that they would be willing lend out to me?

How about the 3rd weekend in April for our next book swap?
marymanu
We could make that Sat.
Hamburg Koala
I'm teaching a workshop that whole day... how about the 12th? Or the 26th might work for me...
Piggystardust
I'm pretty sure I have To Kill a Mocking Bird, I'll take it along if I make it to the next bookswap. Should be able to make any day but the 4th April as far as I can tell. This time I'm leaving the kids at home smile.gif

Bren
marymanu
The 12th works for us Kathryn.
Steph0313
I think the 12th is fine for me as well.

Looking forward to it.
marymanu
Okay shall we say 2 pm at Cafe May?
Hamburg Koala
the 12th it is...
3pm would work better for me though... what do others say?
btw, it would be one of those Saturdays when I would have to have Amy along - just in case anyone else also wants to bring their kids :-)
marymanu
Cookieaddict and I were talking last night and were thinking that perhaps we should make a new plan for the bookswap. So many times now piles of books that nobody wants have showed up and we have ended up taking them all home with us. Since we all know each other now, maybe we could just bring books that we highly recommend rather than books that were just okay that we want to get rid of. I know some of you have already been doing this and it's been really appreciated! I would be willing to make and keep a list of what has been lent and to whom. Looking forward to seeing you all on the 12th at 3pm.
Laurel
Steph0313
I think that is a good idea. I also thought that a lot of the books were starting to have made the rounds, so some new books would be a good idea.

Is there a hospital or university that we could donate the books that nobody is interested in?

Perhaps Hammonia would have an idea smile.gif As I am not sure who would appreciate a gift of second hand English books ( and before the second hand booksellers throw there hands up in the air - I think a charitable donation would be a nice idea) But everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. biggrin.gif
marymanu
Hello All,
I just realized that the bookswap is this Saturday and I've completely run out of time. I was wondering if we could possibly postpone it to the following weekend? I don't mind if I'm not there this month, but I know of a few people that won't be able to make this Saturday. Who else is for sure coming and could we possibly move it to Sat the 19th?
