Do you enjoy eating out and trying out new restaurants, or even old favourites and getting a bargain at the same time?

The Gutscheinbuch contains '2 for 1' vouchers. The book for Munich costs €18.80 and is available from Hugendubel, but the prices vary according to the town you chose. You can order online or purchase a local from a bookshop in your town.

The majority of the vouchers are 'buy one main dish and get the second one free' (cheaper or equal in value) for a wide range of restaurants. The book is valid for a year after publication. In the case of the Munich book, it was published shortly before Christmas and the vouchers are valid until the end of next January – so you've still got plenty of time to make the most of it.

The Munich book has 41 '2 for 1' restaurant vouchers including The Victorian House, Medici, Gyoia, and many more. Plus 21 additional vouchers for cocktails, Kaffee und Kuchen, hot drinks. And another 9 leisure and shopping vouchers.

Each book comes with a customer card which you can use to register on the Club Website which gives you access to additional vouchers which can be printed out. These are valid for hotels (pay one night, get a second one free) as well as free car upgrades with Sixt, leisure activities and vouchers in other towns. So if you take a trip somewhere else, you can get the same deals as the local book-holder.

Books are available for the following places: Munich, Cologne, Hamburg, Heidelberg, Stuttgart, Nürnberg ...and many more.

For more information and to purchase a book, see the website: Gutscheinbuch

Interesting. I would have never thought that one has to pay to get these vouchers, as i used to get them for free in my mailbox back in Canada.

Shame you didn't keep them. You could have made a killing selling them on Toytown!

They sell these around the DC area and they cost $10, but then you get vouchers in excess of 100x that. Germany is still behind the times on things.

Heh heh, well in Canada now these books are pretty common, 20 or 30$ and you can get great value out of em! will have to look at picking one up when I get over there, thanks Koala

You get them in Sydney too but they cost $60. Depending on who sells em the profit goes to charity.

Has anyone every bought one of these ?

Yes, I bought one for a friend and his girlfriend for new years as they had me over that night. They're the going out to try new restaurants types, so I figure this was a good idea. Also, gives people a reason to try new places, in new locations, and discover other things along the way or whatever. Dunno if my friend ever uses it though.

My ex and I used to have one of these back in San Francisco, and we used it a lot, exactly for the reasons I stated above. Found many new restaurants we would have never found otherwise.

I had one for Stuttgart/Esslingen a couple of years ago and you do make some great savings. As e t already mentioned, it also gives you the chance to try out new restaurants that you otherwise wouldn't have known about/tried as well!

Had you over what?

I got the Berlin book as goodbye present from my former colleagues and I have used the vouchers in twelve restaurants.
It's a good idea for a present, buying it is worth if you plan to have lunch/dinner out more than twice a year.
You can also find a five Euro "Gutschein" for the Bahn smile.gif

Mercussini does the same thing. A bit more expensive, and they're quite the pricier restaurants in there. I got one for a present and could only use it once the smoking ban came into effect, so only got to use about five in January. It did pay for itself in one go, as it cost something like 30 and you generally get the second Menü free or at half price. All the participating restaurants are listed on the website, and you also get one for each city. Validity is from January 1 of each year to January 31 of the following year.
