Question: Does anyone out there know where I can find information where it lists the current regulations for a Czech citizen to work on a short term contract in Germany? I know that the Czech Republic has recently joined the EU, but Germany has a buffer period where Czechs still need work permits. (I don't know why they do this, as there are not enough qualified Germans to fill all the IT and high-tech jobs in Germany, and Czechs are generally nice people, but that is another topic).

Current situation: This Czech consultant lives in Prague, but is employed by a small American firm. The small Ami firm is contracting with me so that this Czech consultant can perform a short assignment (6 months, maybe 12 months max), with one of my clients in Germany. Since he is not a freelancer, but employed by this small American firm, is there a time frame where he can work in Germany as a "business trip" without the work permit, as he and his company try to get it? as the assignment starts very soon.

If anyone has any helpful info or links on this, I would be most grateful.

Best,

Herr Brain
