Proof of income from the UK

What documents to give the Finanzamt

I have returned to the UK and am finally submitting my last German tax declaration. I returned in April 2006. Could anybody tell me:

a, what the Finanzamt would like to see as proof of UK income during the tax year? I realise that it would not be taxable under the double taxation agreement and that it is needed to calculate the tax band.

b, Why can't they check with the UK? Or do they check with the UK's Inland Revenue?

cheers,

When I moved to Munich, I needed to prove my income from England for that year, and I just submitted copies of my payslips. Believe that is all they need.

Just doing the same as you but the other way round (UK>DE) so I just checked this...

You could also use your P60 which is the UK equivalent of a Lohnsteuerbescheinigung. This is issued by your employer at the end of the tax year showing what you earnt, what you payed in taxes etc.
