Baby stores in Berlin

Where to buy clothes, toys, furniture, etc.
questioning
I'm coming to Berlin in two weeks with my 1.5 month old daughter and will have to go out right away to buy stuff we're not bringing from the US b/c of the bulk. Is there anything like a Babies'R'Us in Berlin, where i'd find stuff for all baby needs? I'll need a playmat and a bouncing chair and a guardrail and a bunch of stuff. I'm trying to plan ahead since i don't know right now what my internet access will be like at first and anyway it's better planning ahead with such a little one smile.gif

Hi & welcome to Berlin!

There is a babies r us in Berlin .. you can find info about it here
www.toysrus.de

also a store called babywalz that has clothes, toys etc. (can be a bit expensive but cute stuff)
www.baby-walz.com

baby korb (lots of strollers and furniture)
www.babykorb.de

and of course ikea!
I should also mention there are many small, independent baby/children shops all over the city that I'm sure you will get to know in time as well.

good luck

hi there,
if you are here (in berlin) next weekend, join us at the local flea market in weissensee, its only once every 2 or 3 month and its next sunday 18th feb. and we are always enthusiastic about the jawdropping offers they make. its even more fun in summer though when its outside. and while im writing it comes in my mind that WE DO have lots of baby stuff that might be useful to you while you are in belin and we dont need it right now cause our little guy turned 2 and right now there is no sucessor insight, so we can just give it to you and you give it back when you leave town. actually a playmat and a bouncing chair (to hang on to the door) we DO have. if the guys (5+2) didnt missplace the parts - if you are interested give notice then i'll make sure we got it: andy.schmitt-egenolf@gmx.net
take care have fun in berlin

yes, the babykorb site is not that great. better to visit in person. This is my favorite second hand baby/childrens shop in Berlin:

Paulinchen
(030) 32 30 35 02
Leonhardtstr. 11
Berlin
14057
(clothes, toys, strollers, some furniture, shoes etc.)

A bit further south on Leonhardstrasse brings you to a cute french children's boutique (forgetting name though!)

Hi Questioning,
Be forewarned- EVERYTHING here for baby is more expensive- first, everything is priced to the dollar, except it's in Euros- making it 1/3 more expensive. Next, know that it's hard to really comparison shop here, so if something at store A is 59 Euros, you probably won't find it cheaper on the internet, like you might in the US.
I'd seriously consider shipping stuff if I were you. My baby is due in May, and I created a list/registry for myself at Babies R Us- these things will then be delivered to my Mother's home, and then she's bringing it all when she comes. And, if it's stuff you don't need in the immediate future, say for 6 weeks, consider shipping it- yes, you might have to pay customs, but it may be worth your while, depending on how much you need or you're planning on buying once you're here.
As much as I like Baby Korb, they tend to be pricey. I literally saw a Maxi Cosi car seat there on a Friday morning for 179 Euros, but held out, and I went to Baby Walz the next day where I bought THE EXACT SAME SEAT for 99 Euros, it happened to be on sale. FYI, I searched for the car seat online, and the cheapest I saw it for was also 179. Could it have been a fluke? Perhaps. All I know is that Baby Korb is known as the pricey store. Another store I just found out about here is Happy Baby (www.happybaby.de) - they have 2 locations and their website offers an English translation option. I am planning a visit there next Monday, just to check it out, test drive a few strollers, which I plan on purchasing in the US and bringing back with me in March.
Good luck!
