Germany squeaked out a win over France (2006 European champions) and face off against Poland for the World Championship tonight. Should be a great match. Starts at 4:30 this afternoon. Eurosport:

QUOTE
Germany left back Pascal Hens has labelled his side’s clash against Poland in the World Cup final as “the most important of our lives. The hosts suffered their only defeat (25-27) of the tournament so far against the Poles in the group stages, and are keen to put that right, and capture their third handball world title. For Germany boss Heiner Brand, it is an opportunity to become the first person to win Handball's biggest prize both as a player (he was part of the 1978 World Cup wining team) and as a coach, thus emulating his idol Franz Beckenbauer, who achieved the same feat in football. "Of course it would be wonderful if it happened," Brand said, though he warned against the dangers of taking victory against Poland for granted.

Germany takes the half of the first match 17-13!

Anyone else watching?

Yes, a friend of mine. Said she couldn't talk to me because of it.

I'm not though, sorry. wink.gif

In the US we call this Red Neck Games, I think it should be sponsered by moonpies and pepsi.

Or Blutwurst and Lager in this case. laugh.gif

Say what you want, but Germany is now World Champs thanks to a 29-24 over Poland!

I agree PES, was a great final, really fast-paced with quite a few tense moments! well done to Germany.
Handball will never beat Rugby & Footy for me though, but still fun to watch.

I really enjoy watching handball...much more entertaining than golf, tennis, swimming und und und...f*&#ing vicious though!

Did anyone catch the speed crocheting world championships last night, really exciting it was, 84 year old Olga Arschtrid came through, and finished a lovely tea cosy before her opponent...
Owain Glyndwr
was anyone else annoyed by the flag waving horn tooting German "fans" last night, most of whom have probably never watched a handball game in their life until last night when Germany make the final and win?

Will this spawn a new nation of Hand-ball fanatics. Germans seem to be good at this. Not much interest in Tennis before Boris and Steffi, F1 before Schumi, ski-jumping before Martin Schmitt, cycling before Ulrich. Suddenly everyone is an expert and when the stars wane - so does the popularity in the sport. Might as well stay with sports you know but are losers in - like us Britishers.

Handball - that's for pussies! Just wait until Germany gets involved in dominoes wink.gif

Have to agree with Owain though, I never heard any Germans talking in the pub about handball until Sunday afternoon.

Still, I'll suffer any sports conversation so long as there's no mention of f***ing Schumie.
Verwirrt
