Super Bowl XLI

Where to watch it live from Germany

Toytown Germany > Discussion forum > Germany-wide > German news
Editor Bob
Super Bowl XLI will be the 41st Super Bowl. This is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL). The game will be played on Sunday February 4, 2007, at Dolphin Stadium in Miami, Florida. The competing teams will be the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears.

Of interest to a large number of US citizens living in Germany is where to watch the games live. The game will kick off around midnight on Sunday and will run until 4am or 5am Monday morning. Here's an overview of the bars and pubs that we know will be screening the game:

Berlin:Frankfurt:Munich:Note that unlike previous years Premiere will not be screening the Super Bowl. Instead you can watch it on CBS via NASN. You can get this by ordering cable (in Munich it is carried by Kabel Deutschland). They will have the original commentary, but no commercials. We guess they will carry the halftime show and some analysis.

See also the discussion about listening to live audio feeds online.

If you have any futher tips about where to watch the game live from Germany, please add them here.

I was under the impression ARD ( Das Erste) was also showing it live.

Edit: They are starting at 23:40 Sunday night.
BadDoggie
If they do it'll probably be without the commercials which are the only thing worth watching during those five hours of torture which the overpaid primadonnas need to play a game which is supposed to run four 15-minute quarters.

woof.

ITV are showing it, for those folks that have sky/FTV and presumably they will have the ads too.

Heidelberg: O'Reillys Irish pub and the Dubliner are both having super bowl parties.

There's always Picker's if you're in that neck of the woods. One of my friends goes there watch the Superbowl. He's a former Berlin Thunder player and loves that place!

Mmm. I'm tempted to watch this one to root for the Bears. Not sure if I'm willing to sacrifice much-needed sleep for it though. unsure.gif

HOF inductees: Thurman Thomas, offensive lineman Bruce Matthews, Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin, defensive back Roger Wehrli , tight end Charlie Sanders, and guard Gene Hickerson.

Thomas and Mathews both definately deserved it.

Messed up priorities if you ask me.

I hope they reserved a page in the baby book for Baby's First Super Bowl. I'm sure the doctors in the Chicago area were busy inducing a bunch of babies yesterday.
bern
In honor of my good Chicago friends, I'm pulling for Da Bears. Buena suerte!!!
Joliet Jake
12 hours until kickoff! Let the pregame shows begin.

@bern - thanks!

Damn.

was thinking more along the lines of: %*&§!! mad.gif

buuut, the fat lady has sung... and that's the way the ball bounced. at least it seems like it was an interesting game to watch (unlike most superbowl games).
Jenny L
Bummer. sad.gif Was it a good game? Were the ads any good this year?
Crawlie
The ads were pretty shit with one or two exceptions. The Budweiser ads were about as good as they got together with that Snickers commercial. Great game which had pretty much everything. I got you a T-Shirt btw... wink.gif
Jenny L
biggrin.gif Thanks, man.
Crawlie
I will stop referring back to that story at some point I promise...
DoubleVision
Great game. And the only ad I liked was from CareerBuilder.com. Theirs are always a good laugh. Reminds me of my own office environment. biggrin.gif

Oh, and congrats Colts...

perdido
Well congrats to Colts fans for the victory. Never saw JJ more excited at a game but in the end it was still not enough. I was hoping for a bears victory but walked away a bit disappointed. Cheers to Jason and crew for putting on a great show for us at the arc.
DJ_Jazzy_Guff
Yep, good night. Congrats to JOB on his team's victory. It's always nice to meet 'real' fans.
eurovol
The ads scared people.

DJ_Jazzy_Guff
You see, you can tell he's from there because he gets to call them "the Clots". Only locals know that kind of shit! biggrin.gif

Up the fucking Clots!!!

For all of you who missed the ads, you can watch them all here:

I have seen a few now, seeing as ARD doesn't broadcast the ads...

Prince was fabuloso. Just watched his performance on YouTube. He's my hero, oh yes.
PES
Thanks for the tip. You are right: Prince hasn't lost a step. Fantastic.
MoiLV
Saw him in his new show in Las Vegas. Amazing. Maceo Parker was in his band and his two dancing twin girls were so entertaining.
