Thanks again to GG to organising the space and looking so decorative

, I thought it was a great bar with a great mingling atmosphere along the front!
It was a wonderful start to my evening which culminated 4 bars later in getting home at five.
Schwabinger 7 was rocking last night... I met a nice astrophysicist (as you do in places like that) before we moved on to doner kebabs and trying to find a 24 hour bar somewhere in the GBV...

Thank you to polka-dot-speedo for the idea and georgiagirl for organizing!
Even the castrated cocktails were very good, the Virgin Mary had spice enough for two without being eye-wateringly strong. It was nice meeting some newbies (Kats, Manil) and the regular crew again.

Excellent evening, went really well. Even the night tram came right on cue.
Why do I feel fine today? Am I devoloping an immunity to alcohol? That could get expensive.

Feb 10 2007, 12:05 pm
Right so, there were unpaid drinks at the end of the evening. I do not for one second believe that the guys were trying to stiff us or made a mistake, so someone forgot to pay.
3 x Cuba Libre - €28.50
1 x Planter's Punch - €9.50
3 x Mai Tai - €33.00
1 x Merlot - €5.50
Total+tip = €80.00
I would appreciate if whoever it is would get in touch and pay me back. I don't mind covering a few extra beers and have done so many times in the past but this was a pretty big omission by a couple of people.
Renia
Feb 10 2007, 12:08 pm
You did pay for my Merlot before I had a chance to (as I understand the guys were pressing for the money), sorry I forgot to pay you before you went home... Will do so next time I see you!

I actually insisted on doing pay-as-you-go for the short time I was there. The bar staff seemed amazed that I wanted to pay as I received the drinks. The place was nice but had clusterfcuk bar tab written all over it.

Its really unfair that Keydeck has got stuck with such a large bill...I do wonder whether any people at the bar who were not part of our group snuck their drinks onto our tab? There was a couple sitting at the far end after about 10.30ish.

Keydeck, thank you for picking up the extra bar tab, that was very generous of you.
I also ended up contributing €50 (not including tip) when I only had four drinks, so something's definitely gone awry. But, Grinner, a bit OTT there mate. Let's not get ugly, it certainly doesn't encourage anyone to come forward to take responsibility.

Scogs and I came away early after a Mock Julep, Virgin Mary,
Roosevelt Special and 3 Bristol Punches* (and a new liver).
I second or third the motion for PAYG for such events so no one gets left with the baby.

Well as you know, Keydeck, the only drink I had was the Mai Tai you got me at the same time as you bought one for yourself. I don't know if you paid for these straight away, I would assume so though, but if not, then they could amount for 2 of the 3 you were left to pay for?
But again, I am pretty sure you would have paid for them straight away.

I also had a Mai Tai, but it was included in the four drinks I paid for. They were quite popular (and quite potent, I might add!)

Feb 12 2007, 3:50 pm
So what could have happened here…
The bar staff added extra drinks onto the tab.
No. These guys were professional and efficient. Had no need for this kind of crap. Simple as that.
Somebody else added drinks to our tab – quite a few people were sitting at the bar towards the end who were not with the group.
Again no. That’s not done in this country, and if anyone had tried it on the bar staff would have nipped it in the bud (see above).
So we’re left with one or more TT-ers not paying. We assume that this was not intentional, so what has in all probability happened is that someone forgot to pay on Friday, and because they have not checked this thread since are still not aware of it. When they do read it they’ll go “oh shit damn bugger what a silly person I am and quietly hand over the dosh.
Otherwise yeah, PAYG for all drinking events. Anyone who wants a tab can have one but must be prepared to be saddled with paying for forgotten items at the end.

Just for clarity (and to prove that even when I'm pissed out of my tree I have an excellent memory

), OG and I bought 9 mai tai's, 7 of which were happy hour (one of which was bought for Carm), 2 were not and 2 Gin & soda (not happy hour). We paid each drink as we ordered.
I know I was "selling" the mai tai's as they were bloody strong so I think a lot of people started ordering them.

I did initally wonder about double-billing on some of the drinks, but after some thought would have to say I agree with Jeeves... the bar staff at
Roosevelt is very efficient and it's unlikely they would have made a mistake.

I haven't bothered to respond until now as I did not order any of the unclaimed drinks. However, for clarity's sake I had two cosmopolitans and two vodka tonics - all of which I paid for just before the incident flared up.
Keydeck - hope you're able to recover your money.

Hmm, sounds like a large chunk of my drinks bill (I had a Pils, Planters Punch (h.o.), 2 cuba libre, and a mai tai) however I definitely paid when the waiter came around the front of the bar to sort everyone's bill out.

Just to add - I wasn't there so it wasn't me. Keydeck sorry you've been stiffed here mate. A lot of peeps have been in similar situations before but 80 bucks is way OTT. Hope it gets sorted . . . .
Judging by the amount of alcohol consumed though, I impressed how many were still standing later on when we met. Good effort

I'd agree that the bar staff was hardly charming, but they did their job well enough for me.
I didn't notice them being exactly rude, but they were rather snotty to a couple of Italian lads who came in at about 6:30 and wanted to sit at the still empty bar.

I know I've walked out of bars without paying before now(Usually GM's or
The Arc), so I get reminded when I go back. But it will completely slip my mind and I'll believe that I paid, its an easy mistake to make. An 80€ tab for one person to pay though is way too much, I agree with Grinner here and that everyone who went to this event should contribute 2-3€ each so that Keydeck gets his money back.

Bar staff were slow, unattentive, and at points not really intrested in serving people. I would hate to be in that place if it was really busy. Yes the cocktails were great, but waiting 10 minutes so they could talk to mates was a bit taking the piss...

I think we're all agreed that it's easily done. Which is why whoever should be given a real chance to settle up.
Should that not occur then I for one am more than happy to buy Keydeck a beer to share the load a bit.
