Does anybody know the kindergarten Lust am Lernen run by Frau Schloetter?
mo3
We met with Frau Schloetter in May 2006 and checked out what she offers. She was extremely professional, friendly and helpful and appears to be very knowledgeable and experienced in the Montessori method.
It turned out however, that what she offered wasn't at all what we were looking for. I think we were misled by it being called a "kindergarten" - she runs a Montessori program, but our impression from our meeting is that her program focuses specifically on addressing particular needs/deficits in kids in targeted groups of 3-4 kids. She wanted to know more details about exactly what our child needed help with. When we replied that we didn't have any specific issues with him and all we were looking for was a good, stimulating kindergarten environment for him, not to fix any specific problem, there was a bit of a disconnect.
She runs her program from a converted basement in her building and has all the Montessori gear there, but we were looking for a more traditional kindergarten setting.
It might be worth checking out, depending on what you are looking for exactly.
A word of warning - if you schedule a visit with her, even if only a look-and-see as we did, clarify exactly whether or not you will be charged for it ahead of time!!!

My son (nearly two years) attends Frau Schloetter's. He is so thoroughly stimulated that I feel it was a very good move on my part in enrolling him. At his age he is too young for Kindergarten per se, and too bored by traditional playgroups. His time at Lust am Lernen also allows me close to three hours of free time. I recommend it highly. Although as mo3 rightly said, you do pay a consultation fee, the time spent by Frau Schloetter in getting to know your child, their level of skills/development and whether they would benefit from her services. She is highly qualified and professional and I have no qualms in leaving my son in her care.

Hi,

Thanks mo3 and hams for your replies.

@hams
I am looking for a small English playgroup (3-4 kids) with organised activities like snack time, free play, song time or story time.
How does her program look like?

Frau Schloetter's programme is scheduled so that they play with toys that actually allow them to hone their motor skills, differentiate between length, size etc. They do have a snack time (where they're encouraged to share what they've brought from home), story time (whilst waiting for parents to pick up their children), and she does sing to them - but there is no real concept of free play as the programme is more about learning and guided stimulation.
