Jul 13 2005, 10:04 pm
Anyone fancy a curry on Saturday 23.Jul.2005?
At the India Palace on Darmstadter Landstrasse in Sachsenhausen, Frankfurt.
19:30 sound like a reasonable time.
I'll be there. Anyone else can post here so that I know how big a table to reserve
Look just come along if you fancy a great curry, some lively conversation and a few beers in the Altstadt afterwards.

Cup of tea and a biscuit

Count me in.
JP, are you gonna book a table?
Jean-Pierre
Jul 22 2005, 6:32 pm
I've booked a table for 10 people.
I have also called the barman (Gerald) at Irish Pub in the Altstadt and warned him that Neil is going to be drunk again and will start swearing at him if the beers cost more than four Euros. "Perhaps he should stick to a cup of tea and a biscuit" he replied.

Hi, I would just like to break the record for lateness for this kind of thing (just arrived back in Frankfurt and the land of internet-connected computers yesterday evening) and say that I will be there too! I will, however, not be eating any curry as I hate the stuff and, more importantly, do not have any money whatsoever.
I´ll get into contact with Amanda as to how and what, but will probably arrive about an hour into the meal. I will NOT sit on the floor and bark like a dog, but I might speak some Dutch if fed enough alcohol, which comes down to almost the same thing.
See you this evening!

It has been a while since the last curry night!
There are a few of us up for going on Friday and we have been recommended a different restaurant. Obviously I am a bit sceptical being an avid fan of the India Palace and having not been to many other Indian places in my six years in Frankfurt. But I realise I should try some new things so on Friday we are going to
BanjaraIt is in Sachsenhausen, get the S-Bahn to Lokalbahnhof and it is a few minutes walk from there (opposite direction to the India Palace

)
I'll book a table for 20:30 let me know if you are coming so I can confirm numbers.
See you there

Wow, do you think 20-30 of us will be there? Count me in.

The lure of a curry is certainly hard to resist. I may be up for a hot one on Friday.

I will not be able to make it but the last time I went to Banjara it was excellent !
We went there a few times with the dining club a couple of years ago but they struggled to cope with the growing numbers !
Enjoy !

Hi all,
I thought it was time to get curry night in Frankfurt going since
the Munich ones seem to be such a great success. Who knows maybe it could even be the start of a new era.
So the first curry night is planned for 8pm next Friday - September 29th at the
India Palace in
Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen.
Please put your name on the
curry sign up sheet if you would like to come along. We need an exact headcount for the restaurant reservation.
Reservation is in the name "Thomas" - so that is the name to quote when you arrive.
Look forward to seeing you all there.

Hey Jeeves, here in FFM, the culture is different. They don't have beer in liters here either. I bet Apfelwein is terrible with curry. Well it's terrible anyway ennit...

Going to the India Palace when the Bombay Palace is just round the corner, now THAT is sacrilege!!
you're a fan of
http://www.bombaypalace.de/ ? Well maybe this Curry Night will have to wander too. Umm that is really their website but the flash isn't loading so it's just a big black screen for me.
source code to the rescue:
http://www.bombaygate.de/ is what they were trying to have play. They need a real web programmer.

I would love to come, however i will be driving across Europe that day bringing the rest of my stuff over from Ingerland.
As my name suggests, and being a good Brummie lad, i am quite impartial to the odd curry every once in a while so i would definitely be up for attending any future curry nights.

I bet they don't do table sized naan bread like you get in Birmingham's balti triangle though...
Does anyone want some lime pickle and poppadoms bringing over?!
Purple Muffin
Sep 21 2006, 3:27 pm
If I start giving you a list you'll need a bigger van
Well shame you can't make it but maybe see you at the next one.
We could order 10 naans on a big plate maybe?

I went for a curry in Mainz when i was over Wohnung-hunting a few weeks ago. I can honestly say i can cook better ones out of a Patak's jar than what i was served there. I sincerely hope Frankfurt's high proportion of Brits means their curry houses are up to scratch
Have to agree a jalfrezi without any chillis in it is like a bacon sarnie without HP sauce
Banjara does look good, look forward to trying that one out!
I think the Bombay Palace and the Bombay Gate are the same thing -- the websites are the same, for one thing.

Well I think we'll have to have a curry at Banjara soon then
We went there a few months ago for a Britboard meetup. Everyone else was impressed but I think I must have ordered the wrong thing as mine was pretty bland. I think it deserves another chance though

It would be nice to meet you all so I will try my best to be there. I'll try to get the night off work and then add my name to the sign up list.
Cheers,

You'd better add your name *before* you get off work, as the restaurant reservations will be made just after 5 pm on Friday.

I will stop being an introverted forum browser and meet you lovely people instead of flying back to blighty on the weekend. I've sampled the curry in Brick Lane, Bradford and Birmingham, be interested to see what it tastes like in somewhere beginning with F.

Hey Muffin, this is a great idea! I had the pleasure of joining the Munich TT crew on their weekly curry night back at the end of August and it was really cool. Would be ace if we could make this a regular event in Frankfurt. Think I went to a place called Sitar in Munich? It was really good food there.
Have gotta say that there is one curry place in Frankfurt that is head and shoulders above the rest - Banjara.
On the Hainer Weg near Lokalbahnhof it is the most authentic (and hottest!) indian that I have found yet in Germany.
www.banjara.deWe went there a few months ago for a Britboard meetup, think it would be cool to pay another visit soon

the curries I had in the Balti Triangle whilst I was studying in Birmingham were probs the best I have sampled in the UK. Chickenmadras, do you know a place called Balti No. 1?
know what u mean regarding the table sized naans!

Used to live near Brick Lane, so am missing a good curry. Also need to convince my german husband that curry tastes good, so hope to see you all there.
PM sorry to miss you last night, and you'll miss me tonight after all -- Munich's pull is too strong for me to stay away. Plus I got an offer of a ride home today in a car and can skip the Bahn which is on strike!

Have a great Inaugural Curry Night -- will it be Banjara next week? I should be able to make that one for sure.

I'm waiting for the Munich company to call and give me permission to stay... just one more month, that's all I want!
Maybe I should call them though. I don't know. I've been waiting for two days. Do you think it's too early? I don't want to be pushy. We got along so well in the interview, I really thought he'd call...
