It was a nice evening! I wouldn't recommend the restaurant if you like good Indian food. Cerise had a curry that was actually white!
Also they were not so good at coping with numbers
Orable
Jan 10 2008, 12:41 pm
I'd second the not coping with numbers. My jalfrazi was so so, I guess they cook for the home market. I'd ask for it hotter if I went again.
It's not bad as a budget option but there are certainly better places in town.

Hello PurpleMuffin et al
Are we still on for the next Frankfurt
Curry Night to be at Banjara on the 23rd?
Will there be a sign-up sheet forthcoming?
Thanks for letting me know - and looking forward to it if we're on.

Historically
curry night (and other restaurant meet-up) details have been posted around a week in advance of the event to save confusion with other things that have been going on. Curry night always has a sign up sheet. Can't speak for what Purple Muffin may be planning, but I'm up for Banjara too!

Bother - am in UK all this week - would have loved to have been there.
Can we have the next one on the 23rd? My birthday . . . .
QUOTE (Purple Muffin @ Jan 7 2008, 1:32 pm)

We certainly can. Do you have an Indian restaurant preference?
QUOTE (Orable @ Jan 8 2008, 11:52 am)

As you're a Brit, I'd recommend Banjara. Some places tone down the spice for the German market but at Banjara you turn it up to 11*

@Silly Point I am sure we can squeeze you in! You don't mind sitting on my knee do you?

so just to make sure I don't end up in the countryside, I can take the U-Bahn to the Suedbahnhof and walk from there? I'm coming from mainz and am still a newbie when it comes to frankfurt transportation
Purple Muffin
Jan 23 2008, 1:16 pm
Easier is if you get off the S-Bahn at Lokalbahnhof turn left and go under the bridge. Cross the road and you'll see Hainer weg and the restaurant on your left. You could get of at the Südbahnhof too but Lokalbahnhof is a bit closer
By the way everyone we should all do our best to be there on time since there are so many of us. Under the circumstances if people are quite late we will start ordering anyway. The kitchen is small in the Banjara and they cannot physically bring everyone's meals at once anyway.

Jen - I'll meet you at the Lokalbahnhof and we can head there together...or, if you want to come down to Frankfurt earlier, I finish work at 6 and we can go for a drink before dinner and make our way there together...
Anyone else welcome too of course!

Most main courses are between 10-15€ depending on what you order. I cannot remember the beer costs but I usually end up spending about 20€ for a main and a drink or two.

It is yes but I would just park at the top of Hainer Weg and walk down there are spaces further up if you don't mind walking. Otherwise sometimes get lucky outside in the street or there is a small car par in the Schlecker. It is pot luck really.

There would have been room. We had to sit on 2 separate tables anyway.
I still cannot for the life of me work out how we got 20 people though. My last count was 21 but then rozija and her +1 couldn't make it bringing it down to 19. So we had one extra anyway. They coped pretty well under the circumstances.
I spoke to them and we thought that for next time at the Banjara we could do it banquet style where everyone pays 15€ per head and they bring us a selected unlimited number of dishes - one or two chicken, lamb, veggie, spicy/non spicy, naan, rice etc. It would make things a lot easier on all sides so let me know what you think. I think even Prob+1 might actually decide to setup his own login to guarantee a place for all you can eat Banjara.
Lovely evening food as good as ever

I am very sorry but I had left the office at 5pm when you posted and do not have constant internet access so didn't see your post until too late.
They were actually not no shows as Rozija told me she was stuck in work! So I call that a cancellation not a no show.

I wish I knew...

I just thought that Banjara is such a small place and it would be just impossible to fit in any extra people there... lol
Anyway, €15 deal sounds like a great idea to me. I always suffer from the fact that I can't try it all!

Hi Dublin,
Curry night normally runs every two weeks so the next one is this coming Wednesday.
I am a little busy this week however perhaps another curry enthusiast would like to suggest a restaurant and book a table?
Also interested in
curry night... Just moved here so sorry I can't help with suggestions...
