Keydeck

This has just piqued my curiosity as I decided to take a closer look at my latest phone bill from Vodafone. I'm not arguing that the charges are too high, just that I obviously make a lot more calls than is really necessary. The one I have here is for €334, before tax, and it's not much different to most others I get. I definitely should cut down on SMSs as there were 310 in the month.
Am interested to see what others are shelling out.

I have the 10€ per month plan and use my phone as little as possible and rarely go over that minimum fee. I hate talking on the phone. Gives me an earache.

at the moment mines about £10 every three months. If you have no money you cant put it on.
Normaly tho, i would say about 15 Oi-Rose a week.

Get 02 Genion (Homezone), it will save you a packet.

mine is mostly sms's, to other networks. Best bet, all your friends are on the same net work, costs less then. I have been getting my bills down some by PMing more and less smsing.
I never used it too much for calls, but the short calls again to other networks get costly.
I have a 25 a month plan, but usually end of spending about 45. Worse was 90. Nowhere near the Keydeck league.

While this is only my first bill from Vodafone, it's for 79.88. And that's higher than it should be becuase they made me take the more expensive plan for the first few months as a type of "security" because I don't have a German bank account. Bastards. 300+ seems EXTREMELY expensive to me...

@Bern Nice to see Vodafone actually sorted you out in the end then

I have a business rate contract with Vodafone which gives me 250 mins per month for €36.
I rarely exceed this by very much unless I am out of Germany, in which case the special rate of €0.75 per call plus "minutes" applies.
I never use SMS.
My home telephone bill has now reduced (to around €40 - €45 per month) as I no longer use any ISDN and the 250 minutes allows me to use the mobile when I would have previously used the normal telephone. I have the chance of unlimited Deutsche Festnetz for €9.99 per month, but this would hardly ever be worthwhile as many of my landline calls are international.

Jeckel, if I had to do it all over again, I think I'd go with another provider. I, as a customer, should not have had to jump thru so many hoops. A few, sure, but that was very far over the line.

It certainly is - that's nearly €4,000 a year. That's about what I pay on rent. Given that even international phone calls cost around 1c a minute from a landline, there must be the potential for Keydeck to reduce his bills.

@KD, I consistently have 300+ phone bills with o2. Before Xmas I got fed up and bought a prepaid phone with the aim of using it less and keeping an eye on what I paid. I put €30 on it two days before Christmas and just yesterday ran out of credit.
As for o2 Genion, gimme a break, I have had it for 4 years and have had the home zone for 6 months, bills are still €300-€400. By switching to the landline and only using my prepaid when I have to I have cut my costs by over 50% (landline bill is now €150 it used to be €50).

My bills used to get hefty during international trips(roaming). During a trip to Toronto last May, i decided to get 'pay as you go' for my short stay there rather than using my german SIM card. Reasonanly enough it worked out and cut down my call costs from 110 euros to 35 euros.
