Skype calls to U.S. landlines and mobiles

Hey All,

I'm curious if anyone has tried this: Skype has a $14 unlimited calling plan for calls to the US. However, one must have a US billing address and the calls must originate from inside the US. For my credit card, a US billing address isn't a problem. However, can they really restrict it to calls originating in the US? Has anyone signed up for this plan to call the US?

Skype Threads

The above link may answer your question. I personally don't make Skype calls to landlines or mobile phones, but when I do a web cam conversation with friends and family in the States - it works well and it's free.

Hello,

I actually searched this time before posting but all the Skype threads are old. This plan is new to 2007 since they turned off their free calls to US landlines. sad.gif

Yes - they restrict calls using this plan to only those originating from US-based IP addresses. In fact, I don't think the plan is even offered to people surfing from non-US IP addresses in the first place. I certainly can't see it offered anywhere...

You might want to look into Yahoo's similar service via messenger. It's cheaper. Of course if you've already invested in a Skype phone that's a different story.
