I just saw this article on BBC News: Lorry driver rains cash on crowd

QUOTE
A German lorry driver has thrown away tens of thousands of euros after winning a radio competition by promising to do precisely that. Marko Hilgert pledged to give away three-quarters of the 100,000 euros (£65,800; $129,000) prize money. He was as good as his word and threw notes onto the town square of Kaiserslautern, in western Germany, as he was suspended above it in a crane.

Nice gesture and all but I wonder if it wouldn't have been better to donate it to a local charity or something. If it got split anywhere near evenly then people were only better off by about €25 each. Still, it was his money so I guess he can do what he wants with it.

It was charity that he donated it to. The very basic, simplest charity. To the people. No freakin organizations to pay for their management to distribute the money. Straight up cool to the people.
Respect!
take care,

I read about this a few days ago. There was a radio contest where you had to give the most original reason for getting the 100 000 euros. So the guy came up with the idea of throwing 75 000 euros from the top of the Rathaus in his town. He won the contest, but later on the city said that it was not possible to throw the money from the top of the Rathaus because the heating system made it impossible to open the windows (don't ask me why, that's what the news said).

How boring. If he gave that suggestion I don't think he would have won the competition. Its a good breath of fresh air to see somebody giving money away thats not to a charity.

It's to prevent draughts, so that the Beamters don't all drop down dead with a kreislauf störung! Obvious really! laugh.gif
