I've just been up to Olympiaberg. There is between 20cm and 30cm of snow up there, definitely enough to ski on. I live just around the corner, so on Saturday morning I'm going to go up there and earn a few turns by hiking and then skiing it. Its going to be under 0 until at least after the weekend, so the snows not going anywhere. If anyone else is keen let me know.

You're off your rocker Hutcho! Could be a laugh though. Do you know the best side of the 'berg' to hit. Might be able to find somewhere to do little jumps and stuff. What time would you wanna go down? Is there gonna be any more fresh snow between now and then?

We might get some snow Friday night, and into Saturday. The snow that is there should hold though. I reckon hit the side going down to Ackermannstr, its a big hill and I know that there is just grass underneath, so even if we break through it should be ok. I'm going to go down early though, maybe 9am, before the general public hit it and destroy it all..

As long as I don't get off my face on Friday night (you never know), I'll join you for that. I like how you also don't consider yourself to be 'general public'!! If it'll make you feel more privileged, you can give me €35 and I'll bring a rope down and pull you back up the slope!!

Hutch, sounds like one of these could be perfect for your Olympiaberg outing:
Buy your own portable ski lift for 700 eurosIt fits in the trunk of your car and can be set up in 15 minutes.
Check out
this movie of this thing in action, so friggin' ghetto

That's crap!
How do you get to the top of the hill in the first place!?!?!?

As I said fellas, if you pay 35 big ones, I'll pull you up the fucking slope! Gotta be better than that wonderful machine. If you're hardcore JOB, you'll stick on a pair of trainers and whack plastic bags around them for good measure!
p.s. that student party across the road (cheap beer and even cheaper...cocktails

) is on Friday night so danger signs are there.

p.s. it must be a quality party with a name like, 'gangsters and bitches'. I shit you not! Got a couple of spare invites if any of my usual gringos wanna join.

That lift would be sweet tubsy.. I heard they were going to set one up on the hill next to the Alliance Arena this winter, but considering how warm its been, I doubt that'll happen now. They really should get one permanently setup on Olympia hill there.. they could have one on either side, which would give quite a bit of terrain actually..

Just back from skiing. Its tough work, you forget how hard skiing would be normally without any lifts. Anyway, went up and down about 5 times, got pretty tired pretty quick from all the hiking. The snow was excellent, especially over the backside. At least 30cm of fresh snow. Still, the place is better suited for a sled. Here are a couple of pics though
