I'm looking for a USA to 2 prong European plug converter. I've tried Karstat, and Saturn with no luck so far. Any suggestions besides the airport? I left one of mine in the outlet in Hamburg. sad.gif

Thanks!

I bought one for about €14 in Conrad last week. Converts everything to everything else.

Well does Berlin have a Media Markt? I bought mine there (Bavaria).

Conrad is pretty much nationwide

Tiergarten Tom, if you're looking for suggestions on where to find things (converters, grocery stores etc.) in the Berlin area, try posting to the Life in Berlin forum. You're currently posting in a Germany-wide part of TT, so you're going to get responses from people all over the country - which might not be helpful unless you're happy to travel to Bavaria to buy your stuff. I'm sure the mods will move this anyway, but just so you know.

ps - welcome to Germany and to Toytown!

Edit: of course, once again the Muenchener TTers prove they're ace at hunting down info, no matter the location. smile.gif

Conrad's a chain. 25 stores or so in Germany, worth finding out if there is one in Berlin. They also sell mini kegs of bier which are brilliant for taking home at the holidays. FYI: looks like they have an online shop too.

If you're tired of running around, you can also try Amazon.de - I know they have weltreiseadapters, dont know about US to EU specifically - or post up in the wanted section (Berlin) on TT. Maybe theres someone whose got a spare. Good luck!

Here's a link to the one I bought.

The nearest Conrad to Tiergarten/Berlin is Hasenheide 14-15 about 1km down the road.

Also one right next to Wittenbergplatz U-Bahn. between there and Nollendorfplatz.

I was able to get these at the Saturn in Potzdamner Platz arcade, they are black and accept both USA and Australian type plugs. Cost was about 5 Euros or thereabouts I think. Potsdamner Platz was the only Saturn that seemed to have them though, the others I tried just had the Europe-USA type, or, more often than not - a dull blank stare.

A few months ago, I was able to find an adapter plug at a Media Markt somewhwere in Berlin, but had to cut the lip off around the thing because the American plug (it was for a cell phone charger) wouldn't fit inside.
