Champions League football match tickets

How and where to buy them

I've only been in Munich a fortnight and I am not too sure how to go about getting tickets for the home leg of the champions league quarter final Bayern vs R.Madrid on the 20/2/07. Can I go up to the ground, is there a ticket office up there? or is there one in town. I presume that the game will be sold out, so any tips would be greatly appreciated. biggrin.gif Go easy, its my first post as well. I've looked on the Bayern website and the ticketing bit is in German and I can't speak the language yet so that doesn't help.

My boss and his 10 year old son when to the Bayern vs AC Milan (or was it Inter) Champions League match a few months ago with a big cardboard sign saying "suchen 2 tickets". He said he was offered two tickets for face value after waiting 5 minutes outside the Ubahn.

He was quite surprised as he didn't think there would be much of a chance. He was only doing it because he promised his son if he did well in his school report he would try.

Unless you're willing to pay about EUR 300 to a tout, forget it, mate. They were only on sale to members and not even all of them managed - I tried via an email application but got a letter saying that because of oversubscription I'd be getting bugger all. There are various touting sites that advertise as having them and plenty of gobshites on ebay touting as well but if you're not willing to pay that much cash, you don't have a chance.

Indeed. Unless you have a pal who knows a pal who works for... the best chance of getting a ticket for that match is via a sponsor. Which is how I got a ticket for FCB vs Real Madrid in 2004. Last CL match I was at was vs. Spartak, I'll probably go for the BL Bochum match on the 30th.
Sales to members were heavily over-subscribed, even via touts or agencies not much has been on offer. It is the match people will go to and so even those who have a ticket and aren't generally FCB fans will tend not to sell (not least as it could be FCB's last CL match this season).
Good luck anyway!

@nickyboy if you're sticking with 1860 then Euro football isn't an issue in which case there are 8,000 tickets still available for Bayern v. Bochum which is the first match after the winter break.

allianz arena coldest ground in europe apart from moscow. chill winds hurling thru the concourse. freezing your pods off in feb/march.

atmosphere only provided by massive fuck off bose speakers. bad mullets..generally shit impatient fans.
wanky chip cards to get overpriced food/drink. sitting two miles from pitch unless cat 1 ticket.

no thanks.

lol no way mate, you should have tried the old Oly stadium on the uncovered side during winter, ...went to bayern manpoo a few years ago and my trousers actually froze to the seat, you are right about the wanky chip card though

Bayern v Arse a couple of years ago was bloody cold as well. I was sat on the open side for that and I remember the crowd engaged in a mass snowball fight at half time. smile.gif

The thing about the chip card is that while it's a pain in the arse to have to get the thing and load credit on it etc, it does speed the queues at the stands up quite a bit, so it's not entirely a bad thing IMO.

Xabi did you see when someone managed to hit Lehmann with a snowball? That was funny, but bloody cold!
XabiAlonso
Katrina, I thought it was Scholl who got pelted as he was warming up at half time?

You're right, though, it was funny. laugh.gif

I dont think you will need to pay that much for the ticket. I went to the Bayern Inter game and got 3 tickets on Ebay(a couple of weeks before the match) for 50 Euros each( face value 35 Euros). You will easily get tickets outside the stadium. In most cases you have to pay around 20Euros more than the normal price. People were selling the Bayern Inter game tickets outside the stadium for face value ( maybe since both the teams had qualified, there was not major interest in the match)
I have been to many Bayern games and have bought tickets over Ebay or outside the stadium. Maximum I have paid till now is 20Euros more than the normal price.
