no that's not an application form, that's an information broshure

I mean the application form D1, which you can only pick up or oder from the DVLA and some Post Office branches.
I don't need an original form. I just want to know which questions it contains.

Hi Flash,
as far as I know the form is not available for download but you can order it. I ordered one before and they sent it to Germany without charging any postage fee.

@lazybum,
sorry you are kind of right. It's not the form but it has the info I'm looking for. (Should of read it more carefully before posting)

For Everyone else, it says (on page 9 or 10):

you must be normally resident in Great
Britain and have a permanent address
here;
if you are a Community licence holder
applying for a British test at the same
time as exchanging your licence and
you have moved to GB having recently
been permanently resident in another
state of the EC/EEA, you must have
been normally resident in GB for 185
days in the 12 months prior to your
application for a full driving licence."

thanx lazybum (like the name btw)

thanx marie-claire, I might just do that!

Apology accepted smile.gif

The Great thing about the UK is that all the various Government departments never seem to share information.

If I was you, I would get a copy of my license from the Aussies by telling them that you have lost it, then just apply for a UK one telling them that you have been there over 185 days.
If they don't accept it, which I think is unlikely, then what have you lost!

Dudes, I just thought of something, for all the Aus people out there, isn’t it also a possibility of converting an Aus license to a New Zealand one, then simply using the New Zealand license here in Germany. Or can you only do that in person? I mean Aus to New Zealand?

Well, discovering this has made my day! I have a friend from NZ who had to go through the whole bloody rigmarole (driving lessons, practical test, theory test etc.) only a year ago. I'm happy to be able to avoid that (excepting the theory test).
