Snowboarding package holidays in the Alps

Where to look for good deals

I had a nightmare last night that involved me stuck in NZ and unable to get to the Alps - I think that's a sign from my subconcious that I *really* need to go boarding.

Where are good places to look for package deals for the alps? I'd like to go away for 2/3 days/week over the next month. I'd like to try the big Austrian places. If I go to bahn.de - the cheapest I can get to Arlberg if 70eu - then add accommodation (30eu if i go somewhere cheap?) and a skipass for 77eu - that's a lot of euros.

I know there are some package deals - where should I look? smile.gif

What abou the BOB deals down to Spitzingsee etc? €30 for train ticket there and back and includes the day ski pass too. All that is needed is some snow...which, fingers crossed arrives this week

Last time I checked, snowboarding wasn't exactly the cheapest sport...

Last time I checked (yesterday) there is no snow to ski or snowboard on. Seriously. Was near Kitzbuhel (at between 2500 and 3000 meters and there is so little snow to ski on. It is very depressing. We were staying at a hut at the top of the mountain and we didn't even ski (we went hiking instead).

So, I would hold off if you are planning to go this week.

I think he's asking for cheap options within the sports price range. Not asking if it's cheap compared to, say, taking up badmington.
Anyway, it's a budget pastime compared to horse polo, yachting or scuba diving.

Heh - yeah - I know it's expensive, but saving money is always great!

Like borrowing your friends sailing dinghy instead of leasing a keeler. wink.gif

Kitkat is right, there is virtually no snow down there below 2000m right now. Its all going to change in the coming week, with around 50cm of snow to fall in some places.

To the original poster, your problem is going to be availability. February is school holidays, and everywhere will be booked out. Even normally, everywhere prefers to book Saturday to Saturday (especially with package deals) so just going for a few days can be hard at big resorts.

The prices you quote are about as cheap as you can possibly do it for though, so I wouldn't count on getting a better deal with a package.

Heya, just wondering how you found the hut to stay in and if it was nice???
I am planning to go skiing and snowboarding the first two weeks of March ( yes, I still believe it's gonna start snowing heavily end of February!...well...hope very hard anyway...) and need to find some accommodation ( +- 5 persons).

Can anybody help about where to look, any good sites? ( anywhere in germany or austria)

We stayed in a hut called WildkögelHaus.
Here are the details:

Familie Hutter
Ski-Arena Wildkogel
A- 5733 Bramberg a. Wkg., Austria

Tel.: +43 (6565) 6672
Tel.: +43 (6566) 6531
Fax: +43 (6565) 6672

You need to take the gondola to the top and then ski to the hut so you will need a backpack for your weekend stuff. You stay in dorm type rooms which are very nice. Comfortable beds, breakfast and dinner included. They have a sauna and a little nightclub, even. I think one night is 35€. But, call soon because they say they are pretty booked up.

Also, no one at this place speaks a lick of English so...beware, I guess.
