So, I was out today, and saw the Krapfen display at the Bakery, and just had to buy one or two... I love the Chocolate Rum ones from Müller. The Raspberry ones from Cafe Richart are aslo kick ass.

So, what is your Fav kind and Fav Place to buy them?

Don't you just love Fasching time?
UrbanAngel
I'm yet to try out the Call a Krapfen service, but the Erdbeer-Champagne ones at Müller are delicioso!
Renia
I am yet to explore this side of Fasching... I will note the best recommendations!
Jeeves
Högl on Lindwurmstrasse. No doubt about it.
Think I even mentioned this before ph34r.gif
And so many flavours I can't settle on a favourite.

Edit: okay so now I've clicked on UA's link I see that that is where it goes
Carm
I have also never tried that one either (call a krapfen), we get them at the office delivered from 2 local backeries, both are patients, and they send us huge boxes just before Fasching of the peach/apricot ones.

Mention away, I live near there, a few minutes walk...
Johnny English
I don't mind as long as they are fresh.
Elfenstar
krapfen fillings must be regional. if you get the old run-of-the-mill ones in bavaria, well, at least munich, they are filled with apricot. i think it was in B.W. where the run-of-the-mill filling was raspberry. i know each fasching our boss used to donate some and i think it was always rasberry.

but yes jeeves, the högl on lindwurmstr. has the best. last year, start of fasching time, i had a coconut-cream filled one. oh, so delicious.
Eleanor Rigby
German Krapfen are terrible no matter what's inside them.

Carm, can I have an appointment when they deliver?
Boisenberry is great, my school cafeteria used to have them. And I have to try Högl's piña colada ones this year.

you have obvously never seen the freeding frenie at our office then when food/chocolate/prosecco is deliveried?
alimess
The Vanilla Krapfen from Rischart are TO DIE FOR!!!
zard
My office supplies Krapfen too -- when I worked in Stuttgart we got the BW version, "Berliner" -- and I think that the filling was raspberry, as Elfenstar said. Also they had regular sugar rather than powder sugar. I personally prefer Berliner to Krapfen, not only do I prefer raspberry to apricot, the doughnut pastry also seemed lighter and more delicious there!
MadGolfer
Alimess,

if you mean the ones with the Cream in Im with you , Pity I have to walk past them on the way home every night,... Suffering...
Dostoyevsky
The chocolate ones from Wimmer.
Lifeisabuffet
The German karpfen are really fatty and terrible. My grandmother used to bake them with strawbery jam, and those are my favorite type of karpfens.
Grinner
Hardly fucking surprising it tasted shit..
Strawberry jam and fish??

Fucking wierdo
Carm
well, thanks for the photo Grinner,

now back to topic, I had a vanilla cream from Bachmeier today, with almonds, but I still prefer the Cafe Rischart krapfen... could use a nice choco rum/some sort of decandnet kind at the moment. rolleyes.gif

I didn't want Carm to feel left alone, so I had a vanilla Krapfen from Rischart today. Bavarian Krapfens are the best!
Carm
tried the Champangen Strawberry today from Müller, it was yummy.

Thanks Dos for being a Krapfen victim. tongue.gif
alimess
pity Rischart don't do home deliveries..
Aelfwynn
My favorite so far (I've only had a few; this is the first time I've been here this time of year!) are the ones with rose-hip jelly in them. mmmmm...
wahoo
My fav one so far is from Wimmer. It had a strawberry frosting with a strawberry yogurt filling. YUMMMMMM
Oleron
I am not big on Krapfen, but I do enjoy them with champagne filling sometimes...
melrose
I had to try the strawberry champagne one from Mueller today (after all the glowing reports). YUM YUM thanx for recommending it!
portliestgigolo
tiramisu from Meier in Starnberg, represent.

We wandered past a temporary table-thingy at Olympia Einkaufszentrum where they were selling all kinds last year. I liked the blood-orange best. My Bavarian husband was horrified - apparently it has to be powdered sugar and apricot jam or "it's not a Krapfen."

Traditionalists lead such boring lives.
KaBo7
Tried the champagne strawberry one too after all the glowing recommendations, and while very good - how does one eat it without getting red goo all over one's face? Do people eat krapfen with a knife and fork? I think I will stick to the Müller schoko-donuts unless I am eating alone.
melrose
one's not supposed to get red goo over one's face? unsure.gif
UrbanAngel
Just pig out, forget what you look like, and lick it all off afterwards smile.gif True glutany!
Renia
Have been out all day, there are krapfen everywhere, looking incredibly delicious. It is driving me crazy!!
melrose
Renia, did you manage to ignore them?
I unfortunately tried my very hardest to ignore them but ended up getting a Nougat & my now very-favourite-messy-gooey-strawberry-champers one from Mueller. (and yes, the nougat one was much less sticky, gooey and gloopy but not as nice) wub.gif
Renia
Yes, I did Melrose...its a battle between me and them... I saw some kind of Lime one today that might be my Friday treat :-)
UrbanAngel
Ooh lime! Where? Where?!
Renia
I was walking through the HBF this morning and on the corner of the food court area (near the lolly stand) there was a portable cart type thing (from a store, can't remember name sorry!) selling a most ravishing assortment of krapfen. One of them was definitely Lime and 'something'. I have blocked most of it from my memory!
Good luck!
Carm
okay, in the past week, had alot of krapfen (no wonder the pants are tight), and had a nice plain apricot one from the Weiderman Bakers in Grosshadern. The Apricot center was not really sweet like jam, but more like pureed apricots. Very good.

Then another patient brought me two alcohol filled ones for an 'afternoon pep up' some rum nugat and a champagne one, from Richarts... both very yummy.

Sorry, sat here drinkin' . . . so what's a GrossHardon & the Epcot Center got to do with anything?
Carm
The Porn side of Walt Disney! laugh.gif
melrose
I have been mostly good and have ignored all Krapfen the past week. Very difficuilt but doable. (although staying away from dangerous well known Krapfen-zones do help!!) I will stay under my bed untill Krapfen time is over...

...must stay strong..
Carm
The Backmeier Bakery at the Rewe near me, has a chocolate one with Raspberries- think that is on tomorrows menu. unsure.gif
melrose
Carm, I have tried one or two (or three) of their Krapfen and I wasn't impressed. Mostly old, dried out thingies... Nope not impressed at all. I stay away from Backmeiers Krapfen. Quite disappointing really, seeing that their other stuff is yummy.
Carm
then I will walk the other way to Wiedermann's Cafe, accross from the CosimaBad for some decadence. rolleyes.gif
Mariposa
I am very happy to report I have found three more kinds of Krapfen here. Eierlikör, Erdbeer-Champagner and Kinder (which does not contain any kiddo parts but is with Smarties on top).
I bought one with Eierlikör and one with Erdbeer-Champagner, and I will eat them when I get home, can't wait.
Carm
you were at Müller!
melrose
Erdbeer-Champagner is the ENEMY!!! Do not eat it, I repeat, Do not eat it. Put it down. Take 2 steps back. Highly addictive substance! Dangerous biggrin.gif

Carm, good idea to combine the decadence with a little walk. Then you don't have to feel so guilty!
Mariposa
No, we do not actually have Müller here, oh how I miss it. It is a bakery named Kamps. I don't think they have any stores in Munich.

I have an appointment in 15 mins with a teacher of mine, oh the fun. But now I have something (actually two things) to look forward to after the appointment.
Owain Glyndwr
I just had three Krapfens at someone's Einstandsfeier. Eierlikör, Schokolade and Marmalade & Champagne.

mmmmmmm
