I'm planning to go to Frankfurt tonight from Munich. Is there any disruption in the train route? Is it safe enough?
I know the storm has not really been very damaging... but just wondering if the tracks are still ok.
Any advice?

I heard my bus driver this morning say that the S-Bahns/trains are still not running. That's hearsay, though.

My husband ended up stranded in the Netherlands because apparently no trains were running all yesterday afternoon. He says there's nothing going through Oberhausen, I think. He seems to have no idea what is going on, but says maybe I can figure it out online. Is there a website I can check to find out about train delays?
Thanks!

I was walking through Munich Hauptbahnhof an hour ago and there was an announcement for an IC departing for Frankfurt (amongst other mainline destinations).
Neither the main notice board nor the notice boards over the platforms are working so you'll just have to turn up and listen to the announcements over the loudspeaker.
Trains are running though at least!

the most current info is on
http://www.bahn.de/blitz/view/index.shtml (in german)
Amongst other things, the line from Duisburg to Emmerich (Netherlands) is declared as shut. Oberhausen, unfortunately for your husband, is bang in the middle of these 2 stations.

Not bloody funny
I got up at this-time-doesn't-exist o'clock to get to the Hauptbahnhof for 6:15. Thousands of stranded all over the place. Impenetrable queues at the Information desks. Dozens of travellers awaiting my train on the right platform, but with the wrong train to somewhere else sitting there... probably been there all bleedin' night. Train never showed up. Total lack of any movement from any trains. Bailed out and got me cash back.
And my question is: Where do those usual massed ranks of helpful DB station staff melt away to at times like these?

It's safe enough, the problem is that they stopped running last night so the right trains are in the wrong places and the wrong trains are in the right places. So it's not surprising there's no DB staff to ask or displays working because they don't know themselves.

Looks from the link that Ingolstadt - Nurenberg strech is not in use.. I seriously have to rethink my options... My poor husband has been dreaming about some good food during the weekend.. poor soul...

That number has been engaged for hours. I've had my phone on redial and am just not getting through. Good luck to whoever tries it.
