Got a link to go with that? I can see thick inky strands of cloud absolutely pegging it over the alps.
honeebeaz
We (in EADS) just received a Sturmwarnung advising us to go home and to let us know public transports would stop running at 3pm.
SleeplessInMunich
But it is already 3pm...
Dangeross
It's a bit late considering it's gone 3pm already.
I've not received anything from Eurocopter yet. Ho Hum.

just got the ticket to go, although worded as such:

Due to the storm warning, you are allowed to leave work earlier in case you are concerned about your safety, especially those who have a long way home or came by bike today.

Leaving work earlier should be in agreement with your manager under consideration of company's needs.

Didnt come a long way, or by bike, but at present im not one who wouldnt be concerned about my own safety :-)

Plus im Intern so its a given!

It was a notice sent by our emergency response team here 10 minutes before, specifying 1500 hrs.

What wanker wrote that! Since when does a company need worried workers, or worse some poor bugger getting injured on the way home. Either say people go home we're worried about your saftey. Or say we want the company to keep on working we don't feel this is anythng more than a bit windy. PM me if your responsible, I'll willingly come by and talk to you about your communications problems...

I work at Isartor. No word from our Chef if we can leave early.

am I the only person who doesn't think there is much going on weather wise right now? I am in Moosach and the builders are still building away AND driving their crane around- surely if there was an issue about weather it would all have stopped?
Timmeh
I agree, I don't think the Germs here in Munich are used to wind, so to them it feels like the end of the world. What a joke that people are being sent home...fucking reality check, it's a bit windy
Della
our HR on the EADS site called the bus company and they said they will try to keep the buses running as long as possible.
I also have a friend who has just boarded a plane at tha airport, so is it realy closed??

first death in Germany has been reported near Stuttgart.

How does this post help fuel hysteria? It doesn't!!! So don't do it again, post something about how you just saw a small child get blown on to the autobahn.
sarabyrd
Two up-turned trucks on the Autobahn between München-Langwied and Sulzemoos (far side of Dachau). Several roads closed down due to uprooted trees. Flights cancelled at the Nürnberg airport.
cinzia
Seems to me that people running a crane this afternoon are being a little daft. Nobody knows how bad the steady wind is going to get, but surely the risk of sudden gusts is enough to stop them driving a crane!

am out in Untermenzing, not too far from Moosach. the big building site next to us is derelict, it's well windy here. the cranes are wobbling in the wind!

Surfs up dude!

All you need is one gust. I have seen it happen. Little old lady flying sideways about 50 yards and only stopped by a bolted down garbage can. Then the glass in the building above her head broke from the same gust and it all fell on her. Not a pretty sight, but we managed to save her poor little old ass.

well Berlin is still throwing a blank. its a bit windy.. no more than a fart though
Uncle Jamal
There's pretty much fuck all happening north east of Munich neither. It's all a bit hysterical really.

Ludwigsburg (Stuttgart area) is blustery, but hardly stormy...

Just had a call from our courier service, the plane carrying our stuff had to make an emergency landing somewhere.

My friend told me a funny story.. A box with plastic bags got blown off one of the forklifts this morning and now there're plastic bags blowing all over people's farms. Ha ha.
jester
Real bad here at the moment, hope it blows by quick!
Kat
Well I'm safe at home now with my daughter, watching the trees in the hof wave a bit. Seems much ado about nothing so far, but riding through Leuchtenbergring I had a bit of a bad feeling about all those hundreds of electric cables swaying over the intersection due to the construction. My colleague said what they need there is for a pole to be uprooted and twirl a bit. ohmy.gif

seriously, we had worse winds last week and no warning

just heard an update on the radio- supposedly the storm will hit hard between 6-7pm, then it's scheduled for an hour break, and then on it goes from 8-10pm... how precise, then again it is a German storm blink.gif
Kat78
I heard that it's going to start now (4 pm) and will last til 10 am tomorrow morning, as far as Berlin is concerned. It's already pretty windy outside now, so I guess it's really coming.
kitkat64
Does anyone have a link to that Bavaria traffic site that shows where all the traffic is around Bavaria (obviously). I have a colleague who is supposed to drive home to Augsberg tonight and he wants to see it.
