I guess you've all heard by now that Northern Germany is expecting a hurricane with winds from 120 to 180kmh. This could be much harder than the storm which caused damage just before Christmas!
I've put a number of links on my website which will help locate areas which could be hit, plus a few useful websites for flight delays etc..

Well, it started off windy yesterday evening but calmed down in the night.
Big winds probably come today.
On Saturday I have to drive to Husum - I hope it will still be there

Any news of schools closing early in your neck of the woods?. In Munich apparently the Schulamt ordered all schools to close down by 2 and all kids to be picked up by 3.30. But my colleague here in Heidleberg has heard nothing and someone from TT Düsseldorf was inquiring as well.

The rail connection between Hamburg and Hannover has been cancelled due to a fallen tree on the track.

Damn! I was too late to try to leave Hamburg! Just came back from Hamburg Hbf. The train stayed on the platform for an hour then the announcement came that the train will go back to where it came from. Thinking of trying tomorrow but the news on TV just said that the hurricane is expected to hit Hamburg big time TOMORROW. I'm stucked

S-Bahn seems to be running fairly well this morning. Not much evidence of strong winds in HH apart from the odd sign blown over.

No curry then last night Mat ?
Not too bad last night - still rather gusty at present.
The ditches along the roadside outside our hovel are full to brim with H2O - I guess neighbour
called authorities last evening as there were large vehicles with flashing yellow lights here
but there didnt solve it. No worry.
Apparently to nearby town of Uetersen was partially flooded last night.
