Canterbury Rugby Circuit, according to the copy of Shape.de I have on my desk, is a type of circuit training class which uses rugby drills and balls as part of the circuit in order to increase reaction time along with the usual circuit training strength and cardio moves.

Apparently it is currently exclusive to Leo's on the Leopoldstr. but I can't see it on their timetable (I'm not a member).

It is a 60-75 minute class for men and women and is built up thus:

Now has anyone actually done this class and can tell me more?

Because I'd like to either try the class or find out more for the sports club I help run at work where we offer circuit training (my favourite classes).

Have no idea who is the trainer either, it appears to have been developed by Tilo Petersdorf and Andi Klingeisen @ Leo's, I'll ask our trainers as well but thought maybe someone on here would be a member (or maybe a trainer?) and would know.

Thanks in advance!

All I know is that Josh Kronfeldt (legendary All-Black) could do 20 chin-ups with 20kg tied around his waist - that's unbelievable and something I want to accomplish before I croak.

If this seems to much though you could also play Touch Rugby, which combines speed acceleration condition and reaction time in a good social atmosphere. It's a game for all! Sundays from eleven in the morning in the English Gardens.

Almost put in the opening post a "no gids no no no no no and no" statement. It has taken enough time for my leg to heal without risking knee-capping by Mrs Peel & tuca should I attempt to play the sport that shall not be named.

Plus the gym is warm & has showers and is over in 75mins. Unlike that thing in the mud.

Sorry my dear, but its not all mud and cold, it's fresh air and fitness, none of this sweaty stuck in a box rubbish, silent sad and alone. Just thought it was worth a plug for others. I will though donate you a ball if you need one...

the good one or the bad one?

have been tempted to join leo's for a while, for a variety of reasons, but if this circuit training is happening then it might force my hand - sounds good.

Doesn't matter as I don't need them any more. Pure decoration that fill up my boxer shorts and give somebody a target to kick. I may replace them with an MP3 player.

Many thanks to the superstar who has offered a guest pass and will get the timetable. Well chuffed about that. Will report back.

And an advert for Touch which I'm sure is another option: Touch Rugby (subscription only but they are a nice bunch as a rule)

here's a link to the public thread too -- Touch Rugby training sessions. Not as colorful, but there's a nice map.
