Dachauer Volksfest (Oktoberfest Warm-up)

I'm thinking of organizing a trip to Dachau for a Toytown Oktoberfest warm-up event. They have a medium size festival which is very similar to the real Oktoberfest in atmosphere. I was there 2 years ago and had a great time...from what I can remember.

For transportation, you can just take the SBahn (S2) for about 20mins. The festival is just a 5min walk from the Sbahn station in Dachau.

The best part about this festival is IMHO:

1 Maß Beer (1L) = 3.50€

OK...I'm of the opinion we should go on Saturday afternoon around 3-4pm (Sat Aug 7th) which is incidentally opening day. The festival opens at 2pm and runs to midnight on Saturday. Maybe we can meet up at Hauptbahnhof as a group in the afternoon and travel to Dachau together.

ok so Canuck is busy training a new colleague and isn't on line...

I suggest we meet at the central station underneath the CocaCola sign by the south entrance at 3.40 pm, and get the "15:51 ab München Hbf Haupthalle DB AG Zug" arriving in Dachau at 4.04pm (only 13 minutes by train)

I second what JB said. We'll take the 3:51pm train from Hauptbahnhof. We'll split the costs of the Wochenende ticket so again it will be very cheep. The train ride and walk from the station in Dachau to the festival inclusive, should take less than 25mins.

Date: Saturday August 7th, 2004
Meeting Time: 3:30pm
Location: Under large Coca-Cola sign in main indoor Hauptbahnhof area. On south side.
Destination: Dachau HBF
Return time: undetermined (between 7-10pm)
Beer price: 3.50€ per Maß (1L)

We will wait under the Coca-Cola sign until 3:45pm. The train leaves from Track 20 and it's ultimate destination is Ingolstadt. We of course wil be getting off at Dachau.

good event that was. If the Oktoberfesten are going to be as crazy and drunk like this i better start reserving a detox treatement for the secnond week of Oktober.
