Tips on where to buy these in Berlin

Hey everyone!

I got a couple of 100% beeswax candles at one of the Xmas markets this year and I love them. They were awfully expensive but I am so sick and tired of the stink of petrol I get from the teelights you get in the supermarket, makes me feel quite ill! I searched the net and found some at Paletta's. Anyone know of a shop around Mitte that sells these or similar for a reasonable price?

Ikea sell them...europe wide

Buy a bee colony

kill or let the bees go..
extract the honey.. Buy some string for the wick.
Wrap the string with the bees wax and hey presto... one fucked up hive!

Good luck

Hi-
This shop isn't in Mitte, it's right next to the U Schlossstrasse/ U and S Rathaus Steglitz. It's a Natural Drugstore, across from the massive "Das Schloss" and they sell natural Beeswax tea lights as well as candles of other sizes out of Beeswax. I thought the prices were allright- not totally cheap like regular tealights, but for beeswax they were reasonable.
Good luck!

#2 I was in IKEA just a couple of days ago and actually looked for some. I only found cheap Made in China ones! Perhaps they ran out over Xmas?

#6 The one I use in Berlin often runs out of the most mundane things. I sometimes ask to purchase the "show" item, like the cushion covers that were hanging up, there were none left on the shelf. They just tell me no-can-do and come back in 2 weeks!

I actually have a related question. I like to make things, and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a block of beeswax to make candles, lip balm, etc.

If you didn't mind shopping online, the Munich store Duft & Schönheit sells raw materials including blocks of bees wax.
As for bees wax candles, try a larger branch of Kaufhof/department store or large Reformhäuser (natural food shops).

Oh man almost fell off my chair.
the ikea here, well, like most of the rest of berlin, ghetto. beeswax candles? come on...
the market at boxhagenerplatz, on saturdays. there are usually a couple of bee farmers selling wax and honey products. just watch tho, as one can be twice as expensive as one on the other side. fortunately the platz is small.

Both Nikolaiviertel and Alexanderplatz (Rathausstrasse) have two hugh candle shops both worth a look
