My husband and I just checked this place out last week.

We were quite disappointed, it started when 3 children answered the door - not an adult in sight! After a few seconds the kids dissapeared - we decided to enter... We waited in the entrance way for about 1 minute - still no adult. We walked down the hallway where we were then greeted, am I over reacting to find this strange? Is it too North American of me to be worried about this kind of a proceedure?

The english speaking teacher is not a native speaker which wouldn't bother me had I not noticed quite a bit of grammer mistakes and miss-pronunciation.

Hey, I don't want to bring anyone down - obviously there are people that are fine with it, because it seems full.
Just my opinion.

I used to work here, so feel free to ask specific questions.

@Aktur - that's what 'off a certain road' means, that it's not directly on that road, but another.

@Seven - Frau Roth is indeed German, but her trained assistants are usually mother tongue, or at least fluent. It's a bilingual DE/EN Montessori KG. None of us can preach to you what you should be worried about, but yes it's not normal for that to happen. It is very full and they have long waiting lists.

My child attended this kindergarten for one year. We had just arrived in Munich, it claimed to be bilingual, a Montessori curriculum (which our child was accustomed to) and in our neighbourhood. There was no native English speaking teacher. This may not be a big deal to some, but our child, whose English was fine, was coming home mispronouncing English words. There were supposed to be 2 teachers, 1 German, 1 English (for approx. 25 children), but many days there was only one teacher alone. The children would play outside unsupervised. The children were not allowed to walk, play or run on the grass in the garden because "the grass will die" my child was told. The children were verbally reprimanded (yelled at) if they left the table before everyone had finished eating. There was a lot of agressive play (hitting, wrestling, playing with sticks). I could continue...
My child was learning how to read and do math (which does not happen in a "regular kindergarten"), but she was being forced to do work she was not ready for and became bored. Many days she did not want to go to school.
Yes the kindergarten is full (mostly Germans). Its reasonably priced.
My child is soooo much happier at her new kindergarten. smile.gif And so am I. biggrin.gif
