I'd like to find a yoga class, would love to try kundalini, but am open to different styles as long as the instruction is good. I have Googled several classes in English but don't really know where to begin. Anyone here have experience with City Yoga, Sivananda, Moveo, Bikram, or any other studio? I would consider going to a course with primarily German instruction if they are able to translate, but would really rather that the class is done entirely in English.

Have been doing yoga on my own for a couple years, but never in a class, so would guess my level is something like advanced beginner.

I know nothing about Kundalini yoga in Berlin but you may want to give Iyengar a try?

I've learned from other Toytown members about a great Iyengar studio in Schoneberg. The founder is Canadian; he offers a class in English on Sundays at 10:15 am. I've been meaning to try it out. http://www.yogazentrum-akazienhof.de/en/yo...undenplan.shtml

Other English-speaking Iyengar instructors can be found here. http://www.yogaberlin.de/english.html

Namaste,
I am a highly trained and experienced yoga and pre-natal yoga teacher, with mulitple certifications and excellent references. I am going to be relocating from New York City to Berlin on Jan 1, 2008. I would love to begin teaching yoga soon after my arrival. I teach private, semi-private, or small group lessons. I can come to your home, or you can come to mine. Prices will be low, as I am starting my Berlin business from scratch.
With yoga you can gain strength and flexibility, calm the nervous system, lower your heart rate and blood pressure, relieve back/shoulder/neck pain, recover from injuries, gain mental focus, balance the hormones, improve your sleep, and improve your mood.

I am moving to Berlin on January 1 and I would love to continue teaching private/semi-private/small group yoga lessons. I am happy to keep my prices very low so that I can build a client base and make some friends. I can come to your home or you can come to mine (Kreuzberg). I teach "vinyasa" yoga, which is a flowing, challenging, non-rigid style of yoga with focus on healthy alignment, strength, and connection to your breath. I've studied all over the U.S. with some of the greats, and I have 7 years of teaching experience. My approach is laid-back and fun, and geared toward your individual goals.

hi everyone!

I was wondering if anyone knows any good yoga classes or yoga teachers... I've been trying to make kundalini yoga by myself, but now I feel like going to classes. does anyone know anything that is not so much like going to the gym, and also not too hippie, but good? I really want to find something good!!! I have also heard of some heated indoor yoga lessons where the temperature of the room is kept the same as body temperature, does anyone know anything about that?

Hi! I have just moved to Berlin from Las Vegas and I am feeling extremely lost to say the least. I was wondering if anyone takes classes in Yoga or dance from an english speaking teacher. I would love to meet up with someone that has this same interest. I really need to get out and make some friends. My fiance works alot and is not interested in yoga:) Let me know if anyone can help me get active apart from my long walks around the same area. :D

Thank You

Hi!

I've tried a couple of yoga schools that offer classes in English.

1) Yoga Shala in Prenzlauer Berg (http://www.ashtanga-berlin.de/) - They are really pretty good about speaking in English if you let them know that you can't speak German.
2) Spirit Yoga in Mitte (http://www.spirityoga.de/) - The studio was opened by an American lady and has a few American teachers - who of course like to speak in English, again if you let them know that you need it. I have also been to a few classes here taught by Germans who didn't speak a lot of English, but it's fairly easy to follow the classes anyway - just watch everyone else and try to follow as best as you can.

I'd love to meet you for a class or for a coffee sometime. Hope to meet you soon!

Yoga*Loft Berlin
Hi there!
Yoga*Loft Berlin is offering Jivamukti Yoga classes in Berlin Mitte. All our yoga teachers were trained by the co-founders of Jivamukti Yoga™ New York, Sharon Gannon und David Life and/or by Dr. Patrick Broome in Munich, Germany and hold the title Certified Jivamukti Yoga™ Teacher or Advanced Certified Jivamukti™ Teacher.

YOGA*LOFT BERLIN is located in a loft space of an old bakery factory in the hip gallery quarter Mitte-Nord in the triangle formed by Berlin's upbeat quarters Mitte, Prenzlauer Berg and Wedding. Jivamukti Yoga™ offers vigorously physical and intellectually stimulating yoga classes. Classes include Vinyasa (flowing asana sequences), hands-on adjustments, Pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, Sanskrit chanting, Yogic philosophical teachings and deep relaxation. To keep the practice inspiring, asana sequences are ever-changing with music playing an integral role in the class.

Since all our teachers have been trained in the US, they will be able to assist you in English during classes. We also offer private lessons in English and In Class Privates in English and there will be a regular Open Class held in English on our schedule soon. An In Class Private means that you will have your additional own yoga teacher inside a regular class who will give you individual assists and hints (also in English if requested) on top of the teachings of the regular class teacher.

Also, we are having workshops with English speaking yoga teachers from around the world on a regular basis. For instance on Feb. 1 a Pranayama workshop with Paul Manza from New Yorks biggest yoga center PureYoga, in March workshops and classes with Jules Febre from Jivamukti NYC and in May two very cool workshops with the founder of YogicArts, Duncan Wong from Hongkong.

Please check out our website at www.yogaloft-berlin.de

Om Shanti
Peace

I am currently offering yoga classes in English twice a week in the Tiergarten/Moabit area; we are meeting Mondays at 10:30 and Thursdays at 2:30. First class is free, classes after that are 8€; all classes are 90 minutes long. So far, we have a lovely group of women from Toytown, and classes are fun, casual, and beginner friendly! I'm a 200 hour registered yoga teacher who has studied numerous styles, including Anusara, Vinyasa Flow, Iyengar, and Viniyoga. My own classes are a compassionate, encouraging blend of these styles, catering to the needs of each student. You can read my bio here at the studio where I trained, taught, and worked until moving to Berlin: http://www.yogayoga.com/classes/teachers?t=Caitlin

If you're interested, PM me, and I'll give you directions on getting here. This is a small space, so I'll need to know before hand that you're coming, just to make sure we're not too full up!

Hope to see you soon.

I went to this amazing yoga centre 'The Art Of living' and I found it to be so different from any other
centre..I did one of there courses and it offered very different yoga exercises and very special breathing technique's.
The main thing that I found different from the other groups is that there courses offer so much more then just yoga, and it was so
so much fun and very interactive.I met some amazing people and I can handle situations with people so much better now...

If anybody is interested in checking it out they have free intro talks at least two times per week and
just let me know if anybody wants any more info.

Paul-UK

PS..Alot of there courses and intro's are in english.
