Third party insurance charges after a car theft

Hi all

I left a message on this theme recently. My car was involved in a theft and ram raid in Basel. Although this counts as Teilkasko, I will still have to pay an excess of €150.

Is there any way I can avoid this? I am sure you can understand why I feel I shouldn't have to pay.

Which is the contract you signed. If you wanted Vollkasko you should've paid the Vollkasko price.

Umm, I do have Vollkasko, but as it was a theft it comes under Teilkasko. I was asking the question because as my car was stolen, I feel it is unfair I should pay for that.

It was an innocent question asked in the expectation that the answer would be no. I just wondered if one of the people on here knew anything to help me as it is the first time I have been involved in such a situation.

Look, I don't know you from Adam. All I know is some guy I've never seen before comes whining on here that he has to pay a deductible, wants to know how to get out of it (impossible), and wants me to sympathise. If you don't want a deductible, buy the really expensive insurance that doesn't have one. Life's not fair. As soon as you understand that, everything gets a lot easier.

The excess on teilkasko has nothing to do with whether you have vollkasko or not. When you take out the insurance you have the chance to choose between having an excess on the teilkasko or not. Obviously if you choose to not have any excess the insurance is more expensive. I changed my teilkasko insurance to no excess because I often get broken windscreens and headlamps from stones being thrown up on the autobahn and it was costing me a fortune. The whole point of teilkasko is that it doesn't affect your no claims bonus. Bad Doggie is talking out of his bottom!
