Make me smile!, it should bring a smile to your face.
my neck hurts. i hate waking up in the morning to an aching neck. puts a damper on the first bit of the day.
I went to about 10 or 11 trachten shops today and bought nothing! I got super sore feet... came home and was washing my hands and accidentally knocked over a glass, it fell off the kitchen cupboard and didn't break- it shattered- shards of glass everywhere! What a mess.

that sucks- don't step on it or stick your finger while cleaning up!
think of it all as "yay i was immersed in dirndls all day!" (lucky you)
no both were unpleasant events... couldn't find a dirndl to fit right, and the colours were awful or they were dreadfully expensive (300-500 Euro), and the glass- well, think I got it all vacummed up twice.
yeah. you can do a lot with 500 euro.

I went to Tracht & Mehr (with Daniel) and was so disappointed in the selection. Not just in my size, all the other ones were ugh!

some places had nothing over a size 44... very frustrating, might have to give away a boob to get one to fit me.

Missed almost a week of work, been back since yesterday, had to walk out of a manager meeting today because I was coughing really hard and couldn´t stop -- not even cough-suppressing lozenges helped. I have hickeys on my eyelids from coughing so hard and I felt like I had painful hives all over my body when I coughed-- weird, huh? I feel okay except for the coughing. So I left work early and went back to the doctor today.
So I was sitting in front of the TV and had made myself bread with camembert on it and got up to check TT -- during which time Tobi snagged the cheese. I managed to get the cheese and he ran off triumphantly with the empty wrapper. So I wrapped the cheese and put it in the fridge and came back to find that he´d been licking the cheese that was already on the bread. So I scolded him, and later gave him the cheese as a treat when he did his tricks.
I need to do my best at work the next few months and I really really don´t need to be sick right now.
On the bright side, I guess cheese my dog eats is cheese I didn´t eat, thus good for my womanly figure...

I'm in bloody Prague for an eye operation (laser) and it seems that they are not sure that I am suitable and I should wear my glasses (not contacts) for another 3 weeks to be sure that I am suitable. This means that I have a day free in Prague tomorrow but still...

when I had my laser surgery, I was told to only wear my glasses for 2 weeks prior to the surgery, extensive contact wearing can change the shape of the outer eye and make it more difficult for them to do the proper treatment.
I wore my glasses for a week as asked. They think that, as you said Carm, that extensive wearing of contacts have changed the shape of my eye and need to see if that changes back over a longer time. So 3 more weeks of wearing my ancient glasses

DDBug, the clinic came recomended from a friend who had her eyes done there. They do seem very good and are much cheaper than Germany

i'm unhappy because my coworker apparently threw a sh!t-fit yesterday to my boss when i was gone from work, about how I get to have off between Christmas and New Year's (Dec 24th-30th) to fly home to America for the holiday and she doesn't get to go to Nürnberg then to see her family. So now I have to cancel my trip and don't get to go home.

It takes what, 2 hours at the most to get to Nürnberg, she can go after work and come back the next morning, tell her piss off. How can she compare a quick trip up the autobahn to flying all the way to the states? Xmas day and boxing day are public holidays and they fall on Tuesday and Wednesday this year so all she would have to do is take the Monday off and she could go to Nürnberg for 5 days.

no, i know. The logic behind it is unreal. I don't know how it is comparable, and it's not like I have the opportunity to go and visit my family all the time like she does.
As a side note, she basically threatened to quit last week if she didn't get vacay this week and next week. I currently have a friend visting from the States showing herself around Munich because I have to work so that she didn't quit.
I suppose I should put a disclaimer up, that while she cannot do my job if I leave and others can fill in for me, I am the only person who can fill in with her's and that's why her choice for vacation can determine my time.

If your boss approved your holiday dates before you bought your ticket, your co-worker doesn't have a leg to stand on. If you bought your ticket on the assumption that you'd get that time off then the situation is trickier, but if your boss is sensible and wants to maintain peace in the workplace then he/she should let you go to the States and let your co-worker take Monday off. Seems logical to me...

does the coworker run the place or the boss? Sounds like she runs it.
thetagirl05
Aug 8 2007, 11:00 am
she doesn't run it, but in her position (which really isn't relatively high), she's the only person who wasn't either fired or quit after probeszeit. So they like to keep her around I suppose.
I guess I'm annoyed too that she didn't come and talk with me around the issue of taking vacay at Christmas when she knew I was doing it.

Isn't TG05's prob. covered under some German Work/Vacation law...
Once vacation is approved, then a ticket bought, an employeer is responsible for all incurred
fines to changes the dates of the filght, or the full price of the ticket if the vacation is canceled all together.
Thats how its been at every company I've worked for, and because of this they very rarely cancel
peoples vacation after its approved..
Fight on TG05!!!, Tell boss that you already have a ticket, and that if they really want you to stay (Because of the A-Hole employee)
tell them that they are resp. for all costs to change the dates of the flight or full reimpursement of the ticket. Also throw in the fact
that nuremberg is 2hrs away and is easily driven, while the US is an 8-12 flight.

Yeah, I know. I guess I am lucky I have (had) a job I am actually sad to leave, right?
As well as life is going for me, it’s getting worse for my parents. I wish there were something I could do to help, but I haven’t the faintest clue about business and how to salvage one. I could perhaps burn down the bank that the finances are through…
Oh, and my roommate just informed me that my dog is not doing any better. We’ll see in 3.5-4hours when I get home (she’s not always the best judge on things, but I showed her how to tell if he’s dehydrated. She said it seems like he is and is more lethargic than before).
oh, and the Navy left

good bye guys in hot uniforms
