It was no fun driving from Duesseldorf to Hamburg last evening. Stau between Münster & Osnabruck due to two massive cranes lifting a large LKW that seemed to have parted company with the Autobahn & gone into the agriculture...

Well, the office here is not much colder than 38° at the moment...
It's my own bloody fault for being so stupid. Rule No.1 of travelling states, "Travel as light as possible". Rule No.2 is, "Have plenty of cash". All other rules have now been pushed backwards so that the new Rule No.3 can be installed, which states, NEVER eat a steak tartare provencale in a restaurant you don't know and in 40˚C heat.
At 2am Tuesday in a hotel room in southern France the alien returned to Earth. The only problem was that my stomach walls wouldn't let it out and it was too far down to come back upwards and too far up to go 'all the way', so I spent a very uncomfortable night with it kicking, punching and gnawing from the inside. By 8am, in one of those religious experience moments, it finally exited it's first part... and the relief was immeasurable. An hour later, and several other parts gone I managed to pack, get into the hire car and head for my meeting.
The whole day was difficult; technical and business discussions interupted by moaning and wincing. The 90 minute drive back to Toulouse was tough. It was hot. Hotter even than Munich. I needed a cola. I sat down in the restaurant at the top of the Terminal and ordered my cola. A French guy sat at the next table and ordered. Finishing my cola his meal arrived... STEAK TARTARE!!! I went to the toilets and puked up my cola.
Al Qaeda are pussycats. I had to fly with a dual trigger bomb back to MUC. If I had burped, the entire Business Class section would have been sprayed with projectile vomit. If I had farted I suspect Lufthansa would have lost one of their aircraft and all aboard (although the passengers would have probably thanked whatever diety was their bag for being out in the open air... even at 36,000 feet and -50˚C).
I got in the door at 1am. I have to be at work today. I'm weak.

Feeling like arse at the moment, but it's self-inflicted: damn those after-work beergarten trips.
The hangover I can cope with, but I managed to lose my bike.
On the way home, I decided I was too tipsy and so parked the bike and started walking. Of course, I've completely forgotten where I parked it, and with my sense of direction it could be anywhere in Munich.
That's the second time I've done this in less than a year. Feeling stupid.

Hope you're feeling better, Sin. That sounds very nasty. But the description was very entertaining.

(Hmm: it's funny that food items always sound an awful lot better when translated into French. Perhaps the French have earned their reputation as such gourmets partly because of the way their food
sounds! After all, "
steak tartare" has a much more appealing ring to it than "raw burger".)
