because even though i had organised in advance to have the day off from my host family, i have today been told that actually i will need to work on the day of fruhlings fest when i would be going to meet other TT people:(
then i got told off for missing a patch in the corner of the master bedroom that i didnt vacuum properly.it cant have been a space bigger than my left foot and i take a size 36!
nothing i do for this frigging family is ever good enough
grrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Looks as if you have to consider a move. A friend of ours had a bad time as an au pair with a (seemingly pretty wealthy) family in UK & pulled out & went to Ireland (seemed to have been similarly well-healed) and was happy there.
P.S: I was in Kirchheim Friday last week...
hang in there. it can suck.
i never had the problem with not cleaning well or what not, but definately understand working when you're not supposed to and constantly changing schedules! I think that's a common trait amongst aupairs (at least within my friends it was).

I just want to swear my head off and scream at the top of my lungs and run down the street with a bull horn and tell everyone to fuck off! Alas I am too considerate and thinking ahead I don't think the consequences would be worth the satisfaction in the long run. Does anyone know a more non intrusive way to deal with stress?

Breathing thing sort of did help thanks. I really do need to find a way to relax right now, I've got so much stress going on right now and I'm just way to busy to sort it out. I'm actually very busy trying to sort out things that if procrastinated up will lead to more stress. Ah well it will all be over in three or four years..

Three to four years that's a long time! Insurmountable and perpetual stress can kill you by then.
Here's some other tips exercise, visualization, meditation, or perhaps even medication. Even music, massage, walks in the forest or by the water, hanging out with friends can relieve stress. But this is personal and depending on what your interest are these may not work for you. I would also add worrying about things you have minimal control over can be quite stressful and should be avoided if possible.
This sounds like it could be DISTRESS? Have you considered going to talk to a professional who specializes in mental health about your stress?
Also sleeping well and eating wholesome foods can help you with managing your stress.

Yep, studying in a language that I taught myself, but doing a program everyone would assume is a bit of a laugh and every bit as fun.

I don't think I need medication by any means. Just things are really loading up right now. This is just my next two week schedule final exams, semester restarting, moving apartments, trying to arrange a trip with the parents who are coming in next week, and all the time trying to deal with desk jockey Germans to get anything done! Plus a whole bunch of ongoing stress that just seems like a continual loop while trying to completely change my lifestyle to something that is more suitable for living with someone that has a nine to five job and the list goes on.. I just need to get through it effectively or the next four months will be hell. I'm not usually a person that get stressed easily but this last little bit has been a bit much. sorry I'm just venting now.
Edit: plus I'm trying to requit smocking. I have just made a pact with myself though that any pack of smokes my gf visibly brings into the apartment is going to be doused with water.

good on you then. sure youd rather be doing that than something that was piss easy eh?
id agree with LR. setting aside proper time for a good meal, good exercise and good sleep. all the key i reckon. id ditch the good sleep for the others though.
im final semester, final year. had a few mental as anything all nighters recently trying to get stuff done and will have more in the next two months till im done. been stressful as hell but id love to be at the start of it again! plus im sure there is worse to come in life.
also candles. sounds pansyish. but they are calming as anything! plus a beer at night. always calms me down a bit, even if im meant to be studying. im sure one or two dont matter and are in fact a good thing. radio in the background also good too just to keep reminding you there is a real world out there.
also think to yourself - "whats the worst that can happen here?" on the scheme of things, its not much. do bad in an exam? have some daft red tape thing hold you back a few weeks or so? big deal. you can remedy everything. EVERYTHING ive stressed about has worked out fine in the end.
id also recommend having a notepad. ive got a wee pocket thing and i just write down stuff i need to do in the next week or so. SO much better when you see it in black and white, and know you havent forgotten anything.
anyway, chill out and have a beerio. youre a lucky sod really im sure

my boyfriend has been endlessly searching for a position at a bilingual kindergarten/school in munich and finally found one that seemed promising. after calling the german director this morning, she says they offered the job to a native english speaker because they are more desirable for a bilingual school (even if they can't speak german). oh, really? i could understand this if he spoke with ze german accent, but the kid has a flawless american accent and a master's in english, not to mention language skills that far surpass mine!

now i have to go home to a stressed out boyfriend and deal with the complaining that accompanies rejection!
My plan to work from Germany for part of the summer was vetoed. This also means my plans to go visit Liege, Belgium are not going to happen either...
This is more than unhappy news for me, but good news for the rest of you being spared having to deal with Brennan and me (oh and the pup too) running amuck.

. But we will spend time sailing in Alaska and I'm happy about that! I love everything about Alaska, especially the nature there.

I'm guessing boy meets girl. Girl is nice to boy. Boy fancies girl. Girl maybe did not reciprocate the way boy was hoping. Boy is upset and disheartened. C'est la vie. Or as they say in my neck of the woods, shit happens. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on. Don't dwell on it. It'll only make it into a bigger issue than it actually is.

No matter how old you get, how much you grow, how much you experience, how independent, confident and self-assured you think you have become... you still desperately need your mum's approval. And as much as you hate it, it would mean the world to you to just hear her say "I'm really proud of you, you're doing really well, I'm really happy for you." Sigh. Maybe one day I'll grow out of it.

just feel shit today. Got a job I really wanted, and now, for some unknown reason, I don't want it anymore. Got given 4 days off work, but cant afford to go away anywhere cos it is all too expensive. Stupid boy is practically stalking me and we have never met, WTF? Feel lonely and want to talk to a friend or my mum but stupid daylight savings has made it even harder to call home, and I have to wait until at least 11pm, and then they will be getting ready to go to work so wont even be able to talk.

Grr, why do I feel like this?

I have eight, twelve year old girls here for a birthday sleepover, why do they have to f*cking scream?? And when told to pick them up by 11am, why do 3 of the parents phone me and ask if they can stay until later in the afternoon as it would be more convenient for them to pick them up around 4pm.
