I am super homesick. My "guy" has basically forgot I existed..

This is what happened to me 2 years ago and this was the beginning of the end!

I have just added reason No 564246354665 for why I hate HR.

I'm unhappy because I'm stuck at work while all my friends are out partying for fasching. sad.gif

Not so happy coz I started my new project after 6 weeks off and prefered to be anyplace else than stuck here in the office.

Not just unhappy, downright miserable: The ironing board I was carrying into the living room so I could watch Masterchef whilst ironing opened up and tapped me on the nose. Now your average Jane Doe shrugs it off and carries on, but my nose was broken 35 years ago and was badly set so even the slightest pressure causes agony. I have the choice of a. wearing glasses and suffering, b. not wearing glasses and seeing things all fuzzy and c. wearing contacts that are two sizes too weak.

Thank goodness the TV is huge so I went for option b. Dunno how I will manage tomorrow at work.

EDIT: I am even more miserable today. After trying option a. for two hours I have reverted to option c., meaning that I can work at the pc but have trouble seeing things in the distance. However, the bruising has now extended from the bridge of my nose to underneath both eyes. What with the bruises from slipping on cat vomit ten days ago and these new marks I most solemnly swear that they are self-inflicted and Scogs has nothing at all to do with them!

Well not really unhappy, as in the grand scale of things I am a happy person and all, but I was a bit sad this morning because I saw a guy on the Municb U-Bahn reading T.C. Boyle's "The Tortilla Curtain" and I wanted to chat to him about it, but then I remembered where I was and thought that he'd think I was some kind of over-friendly loon, so I didn't.
Not sure why this made me a bit sad, whether that was due to the thought that I am a over-friendly loon that chats to random people on public transport or that I miss sitting with other over-friendly loons chatting on public transport, I'm not rightly sure.

In any case, it's a great read.

Because for my husband, the threat of redundancy has reared it's ugly head again, sooner than we anticipated.

Because I am still in the office waiting for the boss to approve an invoice and he's on the phone with his feet on the desk. And at home a home-made beef stew with store-bought garlic bread is bubbling away.

The sun shines outside and I wish I had a dog to walk out and play with... I think that this is one of my biggets frustration in Germany...

I was hanging out with one of my girlfriends today and she said she has a pedigree white boxer that she would like to find a good home. The dog is 2 years old and only understands english. If you're interested, just let me know.

The dog is 2 years old and only understands english.

I know this is not the place for it and i'm sure this has been discussed at length before but do dogs really understand a particular language?

I was sure that i had been informed that they respond to gestures and to tone of voice rather than what is being said?
mere
bluedave you're kind of on track. they do learn words. if it was just voice intonation and gestures then a dog couldn't differentiate betweent "go" and "no", but they can (well, can be trained to). Dogs do primarily learn via body language since that's how they communicate first. Voice tone does effect things. You can go anywhere and use random nonsense sounds and depending on pitch and length of the tone get a known response (e.g. high and fast will speed up, cause excitement. low and steady/slow can calm and slow. low/deep can stop a behavior. just like fast and sharp can interript one).

Brennan knows commands in both German and English and same with other dogs can learn both.
Depending how the dog was trained if it learned first by hand signal it's super easy to teach commands in a new language. Even if only voice commands were taught you can still switch.

I'm only reporting about the dogs language what I've been informed. I know absolutely nothing about dogs.

Wish i could say the same . . . unsure.gif

Btw, i wasn't doubting your post just whether that's the case.
Lavender Rain
I didn't think you were doubting my post. I was just relaying what was told to me about the dog. Even if you were my ego can surely take it smile.gif .

Why does she want to get rid of the dog?

Because she have two small children and a husband who is also like a small child and she can't care for the dog too.

Cough, mate.

I'm friggin babysitting this evening and overnight a very bratty, whiney, and precocious 6 year old and her 3 year old sister. They both left their listening ears at home. I had to spank their butts to let them it's my house and I'm in charge. Now they both know and understand the bed is not a trampoline and the bathtub is not a swimming pool.

I finally got their little arses to go to sleep! Then I have to get up and cook breakfast at 0630 as the 6 year old is a insulin dependent diabetic and I have to give her insulin and breakfast at 0700. No sleeping in for me tomorrow and I definitely don't feel up to going to the playground to run around with them at 0830 .

Now I fully realize why I don't have my own children as this is friggin hard work to take care of children.

Yes, I'm sure the parents of these children are reassured to know they have been left with someone so patient and caring
Lavender Rain
Absolutely, that's why they leave the girls with me as the 6 year old is diabetic and her parents trust me to give her the insulin injections. I told her parents I had to spank her butt as it was either I spank her butt for jumping on the bed or take her to the hospital for breaking her neck from falling down. What do you do when you ask a child to stop doing something that's not allowed and after five times of getting her down from the bed and her going back? YOU SPANK HER BUTT! They agreed that she needed her butt spanked and said they do the same thing when she's at home and jumps on the bed.

She asked me again to babysit this Tuesday. Yikes!

I am unhappy because Scogs and I took advantage of the lovely weather and delightful sunshine and went to Ingolstadt today, one of Bavaria's main cities with a wealth of history, a beautiful Baroque ensemble in the inner city, narrow cobbled streets, unexpected nooks and crannies, various fortresses from various eras, an Asam church down a side-street and a large park outside Ludwig I's last line of fortification. But that's not why I'm unhappy.

I'm unhappy because he forgot to make sure that the memory card was in the camera.
mere
i don't mind quickly going out in the cold, but i'm unhappy b/c even the dogs are minding it so they're all energetic, but not wanting to be outside, or outside too long. Since I'm not near my house I can't go to the building (one of the places we train) and run them like I normally when it gets like this.

I am a bit sad because they are repairing the leak in the Fernwärmeleitung near my place. It was pushing a column of steam into the frosty air for the last couple of weeks. Made me think I was on 46th Street East in New York again. I shall miss you steamy column! sad.gif

Today I am unhappy because I have been diagnosed with Xerotic Eczema and it's not half as exciting as it sounds. It's a dry skin condition that freqently appears in the winter (another name for it is winter itch) on lower legs and underarms, mostly amoung elderly people but it is also not uncommon among people in their 20s. I suppose I can be happy because people might see my red and itching underarms and take me for 20-something.

Because my boss just said "i would like to get this finsihed today" which always means I will be staying here late as he will decide to bugger off hime around 17:00.

Leaving me no onsstructions on what needs done or how to do it (should I work out what needs doing).

If I ask he will (again) say that there is a note or a document about it. It will be out of date and any discussion on monday will go along the lines of "yeah, thats out of date".

Its lucky the window is closed.
