After living here for two years, I am having my first bit of homesickness. Worst part is my husband is in California for work right now. I would love to call a friend or my family back home right now, but with the time difference it is like 3 in the morning.

I didn't get any sleep last night. A starving mosquito found its way into my bedroom, attacking my left arm and right leg repeatedly. Plus my sick little puppy needed lots of petting (runny nose, very unnerving not to smell anything, I suppose, as blind and deaf as he is). Finally got to sleep and had horrible dreams about my mom being treated meanly. But the day is going well, so far.

Because I've finally agreed to separate from my wife and I'm having to work out how my life is going to look. I will miss seeing my little boys every day immensely.

Good news is I'm off to England tonight and I can see lots of great friends who've been talking to me whist I've been trying to work things out.

As the judge who divorced me (bless his boots!) said, you are no longer married but you will be parents for the rest of your life. Be a good if not always present father and make sure you can be there when the kids need/want you.

I saw that the local Burger King promotes a tiny financial services niche: accepting U.S. dollars, with a €1 to $1.40 exchange rate. Tried to push them €72 and get back $100, but they would only take dollars, not give them out. Punks.

Hilariously we agreed immediately that I'll try and find somewhere within walking distance so they can see me during the week.

I am sorry to hear that, Corkie. I lost my Dad to brain cancer last year, and even though we all had a chance to say good-bye before he was under constant morphine there is a big empty space in our lives filling up with unsaid words.

I am unhappy because we had an accident involving packaging material at work and I banged the insensitive spot on my knee while wiping it up underneath the chairs in reception and now the nerves surrounding the insensitive spot are going nuts. This after not being able to find my glasses this morning, realizing that my umbrella was at work and losing the sole off the heel of my right shoe.
