Are Lohnsteuerkarte still being used?

Is the Lohnsteuerkarte still being used or has it been replaced by something else? I don't know why but I seem to thing that it was being got rid of. My current company are asking for my new one but I can't seem to find it anywhere. What colour is the current one?

Yes, it's still being used.. But a new tax law/requirement introduced in 2004/5 requires companies with over a certain # of workers
to send the workers tax data electronically, directly to the FA.. You no longer get your tax card back to give to the FA/tax advisor
only a printout of the info (For your records) with a special electronic transaction # which your advisor/FA use to pair the date to
your tax details..

If you don't have your tax card by now (They were mailed out in Aug-Oct), RUN, don't walk to the KVR and get one..
There is usually no charge..

If you live in a large city and your employer hasn't changed over to the elctronic system mentioned above your local council will be very glad to get your old tax cards back as it enables them to claim more money from the "pot" for providing services that the folks in the Speckgurteln love to use but don't pay for.
