Video Juke Box Jury

A Friday bit of fun

3 Lions
So for those who had Saturday morning shows, or watched the original Juke Box Jury, you'll know what this is about. I've picked 3 random new entries from the UK Download Charts. Have a look at each and say whether you think it will be a hit or a miss.

First up is 'Tell Me' from P Diddy featuring Christina Aguilara. What has happened to this raunchier look that Christina said she was coming back with? Quite liked the video.

My Verdict - HIT.

Tell Me

Second video I've gone with is 'Patience' by Take That. So the boys are back for good...or at least for a little while anyway. Looks like they tightened the purse strings on the video and made them walk to the coast instaed of drive them and that the only posessions left from their glory days were the mike stands. Quite why Jason Orange has one I dont know as he never sang anyway, must have took Robbies when he left. Mark owen does a great Tom Baker impression at one point.

My Verdict - Not a great song, but it has gone straight in at No.1, so will have to say HIT.

Patience

The final video I've picked is a cover of Petula Clarks 'Downtown' by former Spice Girl Emma Bunton. Well it looks like all that dancing has certinly paid off for her. Weird video...and why does she keep pointing towards her feet when she sings 'Downtown'? rolleyes.gif

My Verdict - Fun song, but a poor cover this one, Ithinnk she struggles with the high notes. Would much rather listen to the original. MISS.

Downtown

I'll pick another three random videos again next week, if this thread goes okay.
Keydeck
Mr. Loins, I suspect that rather than pointing at her feet she might perhaps be indicating that going "Downtown" is another way of perhaps indicating a certain sexual act...not involving feet. Or perhaps I'm just letting my imagination get the better of me.
the Boy From Bozlem
This poll really needs a ‘they are all shite and I would sooner stick a burning knitting needle through my ear’ option.

Btw I was watching a news item the other week and apparently there are going to be some changes made to the way the UK charts are compiled in regards to downloads.

They also went on to say something about how none of The Beatles tracks are officially available for download yet but when they are made so this year the UK is going to see week after week after week of official UK chart No1’s from them.

Fecking Scousers!!!
Elfenstar
p. diddy just did a song with the lead singer from pussycat dolls. i found that one better than this one with christina. her part and his rap are good, but the mix of the two is a big miss. doesn't fit at all together, but the combination is what will make it a hit although musically, not very good.

also, she wasn't planing on being raunchier again. she just came out with a swing-influenced album, which is rather very good.

EDIT: (i put miss before i even watched it...) so, why did emma chose to do a cover without making any effort to put her own interpretation in it? that is why it sucks. have you ever heard the original of "torn", the song that made natalie imbruglia famous? that was a fantastic interpretation ad well deserving that it made her a one-hit wonder.

I gave them all a miss. I turned the P Diddy one off half way through 'cause it was boring. I liked the first minute of it (especially the back beat) but then it got repetitive. The "Take That" one is ok - already over played on the radio. And Emma - my god where to begin ...First, I agree with Keydeck. There is no question which part of "town" she's talking about. ph34r.gif Second, Elfenstar beat me to it with:

I LOVE covers because I like to hear how others "see" things. Very disappointing.

All were horrible.
