Dear All,

I am sorry I completey forgot to check on Firday and I only have one court booked. Normally this isn't a problem as they almost always have courts available. However, today seems to be an exception. They have something available from 12.
Perhaps, we do something that turns into training/3/4 squash today.

Sorry for the screw-up.

Hi,
I'm new to MUC and would like to meet up with everyone on Sunday.
My squash is not all that good but should be able to keep the ball above the line... Trust this is OK?
Best regards,
Richard
jono
Richard,

Of course, we are always happy to see new players.
Can you add your name to the sign up sheet for this week.

Hi

I just joined this site. I am a new Brit here in Munich and would like to play on Sunday.

I went to the confirm page and added my name. Hope that's OK - Can someone let me know?

Cheers
Grant
jono
Grant,

Of course everyone is welcome.

Enjoy,
jono
GaryW
I can now play on Sunday 27th so I will book at least 1 court today. I'll increase it to 2 if there is enough interest today or are enough sign-ups during the week.
Bandi
Hi Jono,

Late as always, but I would like to join on 20th as well smile.gif
Will book an additional court in the morning and will show up together with Karim.
Best,

Andras
GaryW
I have only booked one court for 27th. At present no-one else has confirmed so please use sign up sheet or I may have to cancel it.

Gary (standing in Jono's shoes - thankfully only metaphorically speaking, given he doesn't wear socks)
GaryW
We now have 3 confirmed including me. Nearly all courts were free last week so can always increase booking from 1 court if more show up on the day.
student_traveller
do we need membership to enter?...how much is the approximate cost split per person (total)
Stephenl
Hi Student Traveller

It is usually about 10 Euros each and you don't need membership. You can get a membership card but from what I understand the saving is negligable unless you go really often.

Steve

Hey, is this event still on? I've only gripped my racket a couple times since I came to munich a couple of months ago. I would love to smash a ball around with some fellow english-speakers.
mj davey
Jonno, Gary et al, am hoping to be along tomorrow too... smile.gif
@fluffyone, yes, 1030 Fitness Schwabing...
GaryW
Still no sign of Jono.. thought his holiday finished this week? Despite Mark's good intentions it was just me, Anwar and Vladimir (fluffyone). I've booked 1 court for for the usual 10.30-12.00 next week but don't think there will be any problem adding another if more sign up.
jono
Missed my connecting flight on Saturday or I would have been there yesterday. See you all this Sunday.

Cheers,
Jono

erhmm, yeah sorry. had too much business to take care of... honest!
will be there in a fortnight... promise!
z_charron
I was an avid raquetball player some years ago and would be interested in learning squash. How different is it and would I be a nuisance if I asked someone to show me the ropes?
TaTouille
Hi,

new poster in this section, but from what I know, the 2 sports are quite similar... Although (from what I was told), squash si faster and needs less strength...

Regarding showing you the ropes, but monthly budget doesn't even enable me to play regulary... but if you what to start with some tips, you can try: www.guide-to-squash.org/
You have videos of games / lessons... a good start :-)
GaryW
Just turn up tomorrow at 10.30 someone will show you. Ask for Sunday squash or Jono's squash

It's often a fairly mixed standard so you won't feel out of place. I've played "british racquet ball" which is slower and played on a squash court with a big ball but I'm not sure the original racquetball played on a longer, thiner court with a higher roof is slower or easier from what I've seen (never played). They say squash needs a little more hand eye co-ord due to longer racquets but it shoud be pretty easy to adapt.

Hi
I am new to munich fresh from SA and a keen squash player. I hoep its okaz that i join. also, where can i get good equipment squash equipment like shoes, raquet etc
jono
Hi,

Of course you are welcome!

Most sports shops seem to carry some squash equipment ( Squash an Fitness Schwabing raquets). Or try Karstadt ( Hauptbahnhof) have a resonable selection of shoes and racquets.

Cheers,
Jono
BigEnglish2008
I have never played squash in my life, but I am looking for alternative 'less damaging' sports to wean myself off the weights and rugby.

I will come along and give it a go if there are tolernat people in the group...cheers BE2008
jono
BigEnglish ,

Sure come along on Sunday. You can borrow racquet from the sports centre.

Cheers,
Jono
Bandi
Hi Jono,
