Their current album "
The Crane Wife" is really excellent. I've not heard any of the older stuff yet.
Tickets are EUR15,00.

Portland Oregon's own Decemberist. Brilliant band by the way. I saw these these guys (and the line up has changed a bit) when they were playing for spare change along the waterfront in Ptown. I would recommend seeing these guys.
Edit: I dont leave until the 20th so maybe I will go see them.

i am going to give these guys another bump because they are fucking good. I hope to be back from portugal before the 18th to make this concert. I recommend "Here I Dreamt I Was An Architect "as an example of how good they really are..

Another bump for the boyz from Ptown.
and i recall in spring
the perfume that the air would bring
to the indolent town
where the barkers call the moon down
the carnival was ringing loudly now
and just to lay with you
there's nothing that i wouldn't do
save lay my rifle down

Bit confused .
Ampere not showing the gig at all here:
http://www.ticketonline.de/trans/prlist?ME...057&SO=DATEIs that because it is sold out? Seems odd not to show that however.
Anyone know where I might still get tickets?

Yup - I registered there. Pain is that they say if I purchase then I MUST collect the tickets today from 1 of 4 outlets in central Munich. But I live in bumsville.

Ask is somone else can collect them for you. If its one of the ticket shops at
Ostbahnhof or
Marienplatz, I could run in and get them and then post them to you.

Can we get the thread title changed for the new venue please, ie. The Decemberists @
Muffathalle?
I hate it when gigs get moved from the originally advertised great little venue - should be a law against it...

I don't mind them moving next door meself. One (big) advantage is you can get a Weissbier in there...

Not
Ampere -- there is a cafe just inside the main entrance to the concert hall. You can see it on the bottom of this plan:
http://www.muffathalle.de/Veranstalterserv...hallenplan.htmlWill be there around 8 as well.

Oh dear. Not my kind of music, I guess

. I found the Decemberists rather uninspiring and left after half-an-hour. Having to suffer the support band first didn't help - they were excruciatingly dreadful, IMHO. Ah well, everyone to their own. Everyone else seemed to be enjoying the gig, so maybe it's just me that's weird.

Making me feel better that I did not miss the "gig of the century" then. I like the 2 albums and really wanted to go but had family event instead!

I think you have to already be a fan of / know their music. I have to say that it was a great show, especially how interactive the band was with the crowd.
@GreenTea: If you had stayed a little longer you could have participated in the singing battle between the two-sides of the venue.

Didn't do a great deal for me either, but I don't know any of their stuff. We stayed 'til the end though. Support were a little strange.

I was looking forward to the opening act after listening to a couple of there songs
here. Unfortunately, they didn't come off very well, partly because the levels weren't high enough for the lead singer's vocals, and also because she came off as a bit of a flake. I thought the Decemberists gave a spirited performance, but they had a hard time winning over the crowd, despite (or because of?) the half-time calisthenics and the singing competition. There were a couple songs like Oh Valencia and the Crane Wife that made it well worth the price of admission though.
