New Year party revellers found themselves stuck in the Schrannenhalle shopping mall elevator. But at least the fire department came to the rescue equipped with refreshments biggrin.gif

Check out the story here: Group Spends New Year in Jammed Elevator.

It took 45 minutes before anyone heard their calls for help and they weren't freed till 1.15 am on Monday.

I reckon there was a large crowd of silly buggers outside the elevator pretending not to hear the calls for help. tongue.gif

Yeah, it seems that way
Anyhow, I've had the odd PM from a moderator kindly letting me know of a change they'd like in a topic I started. But this attitude...sheesh! What a start to the new year.

Sorry just in case I confused you, What I posted was my opinion on your content, not the official TT line.

I'm bored with the amount of people lifting stuff from various sites, you do get some bonus points to show where you lifted it from, but still its all pretty fluffy.

Congratulations, you've popped up onto my moderation radar (thats my official bit). Enjoy yourself on TT smile.gif

And the headline in one of the local rags had to do with a "New Year's Horror." Now, I wasn't there, but I'd hardly qualify being stuck in an elevator as "horror," unless the thing was dropping. rolleyes.gif

Yeah, I agree. "New Year's Horror" would be more of a plane disaster in Indonesia, or something. Not so much as being stuck in an elevator for 45 minutes and one girl having an minor injury to her eye. Exaggerated headline for sure.

I know someone who knows someone who was caught in this lift. It seems it was a frightening experience. They were there two and a quarter hours over NewYear/midnight. 14 people in a lift certified for 13. The lift operator (not the hall owners) refused to call the fire brigade until way past midnight when it was clear the thing was not going to move anywhere, the temperature inside was rising over 30 degrees (bear in mind most could not sit down) and the air supply was limited. One guy had to piss in the corner. When the fire brigade eventually arrived they had to cut (much to the chagrin of the owners) an air vent and escape hatch. Management of the Schrannerhalle have given each individual vouchers for €250, but still don't admit liability (the lift was overloaded)

One guy had to piss in the corner

Not a difficult task as there are four to choose from.
