Since I haven't been able to digest meat from Germany (i have unwantingly become a vegetarian), is it okay that I bring homemade sushi? (no raw fish in it though, I haven't been able to find any fresh sashimi quality fish either) Do people going to this BBQ like sushi? If so, let me know so I can prepare more.

love Sushi and all Japanese food. IT is just too expensive for my moth-ridden little wallet
The first rule to learn about Toytown, Toronto, is that there are no rules. If you want to bring fish-free sushi to a TT BBQ, then you should. Obey the Nike advertising slogan

Well, looks like I'm probably gonna be there as well as Italy plans are falling through for me.
One thing we were lacking last time was a radio/CD player. Anybody have a decent battery powered setup?

Yeah DW, I've got one that'll do the job nicely. I'll put in the car with the other stuff.
I am presuming that I cannot drive directly to the BBQ spot, so I may need to ask for some assistance in carrying some stuff over there.

Please add Tom17 and I to the list. We usually bbq at Flaucher but this spot sounds cool.
We will bring a bbq along as well.
We are newbies to TT events (although not to the forum) so looking forward to meeting you all!

@keydeck - no worries carrying stuff. If you're driving, will you be drinking? And Blimeygirl - will look forward to meeting you.

Are you insane? TT'ers are unbearable unless you're caned. Is there no way you could leave the car there and collect in early on Monday, or even have somebody collect it for you? I've driven on the right now, and I have Monday off if you see what I'm saying...

14:30 sticks in my mind, but I could be wrong...if you're gonna be there you could perhaps bring a touch rugby ball along - I'd be keen to give it a quick spin just to see what it's all about...

Hi Guys,
Two questions from the meetup newbie:
1. How are you all about bring kids to stuff like this here grill party? Do many Toytowners have kids?
2. Is it cool to bring a German friend (who speaks English), or does that dilute it somehow, or...?
Thanks in advance.

I had no problem when I brought my son with me to

Of course it's fine to bring kids. They're just little people after all and you can teach them great new stuff like throwing gravel and other things like that.
As for your German friends, very simply, the more the merrier.
And Leeza, there's a couple of other new people coming along (like Toronto), so you're not the only one
The time is 2:30pm, instructions for how to get to the place are given earlier in the thread. I've already given my mobile number to quite a few people so don't be shy about asking if you want a contact.
Bring it on

It's never too late for anyone to come along and you don't need to ask, just show up and have a good time.
I've just been out doing the essential shopping, beer & meat!

Hi,
just discovered your invitation.
Love to come.
A warning for the purists:
I am born *in* Germany, grew up some here, grew up some more in the U.S.
Have Irish-German parents.
Can't conceal the fact (and do not want to) that my passport is German.
Just explaining this in deatil 'cause I got a welcome flame when signing up recommending that I get right back out again.

margaret, come along! There are always some natives, and plenty of non-native English speakers at Toytown events. "Munich's native English speaking crowd" isn' totally correct.
MatchNL. Don't sweat it. Last time we had too much food. I'm sure people will allow you their scraps

MatchNL, you should have thought of it yesterday. Anyway, you can get basic stuff at any petrol station so you should be sorted. That or go to the shop at
Hauptbahnhof.
Margret, as DW says, there's always a few natives around. my girlfriend for one is 100% German, although you wouldn't think it to talk to her. Anyway, see you later.
MommyinDE, yes it was

Does wine count? I can bring some wine
Jimbo
Aug 1 2004, 12:05 pm
Wine, last time I checked, counted...if you're a girl anyway...
Seriously - anythinhg is good, but as Keydeck said, get over to
Hauptbahnhof or your local gas station and you'll find they sell food and booze too...you still have 1hr 30 before any of turn up at the BBQ spot.
And the latest weather forecast says 65% chance of precipitation, albeit not that heavy.
